Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is adjacent to the Expo Park, located in the south extension of Huangpu River in Pudong, with superior geographical location, including comprehensive gymnasium, swimming pool, outdoor diving pool, news center, parking lot, bus station and other related supporting facilities. The total land area of the project is 347,500 square meters.
According to reports, this is the first time in the history of FINA to build a professional-level event venue of this scale to host the FINA World Championships. This is another highlight of the construction of large-scale sports facilities in China after the Beijing Olympic Games. Compared with the highly praised "Water Cube", the design scheme of Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is also quite eye-catching. For example, its unique outdoor diving pool will be located on the island of an artificial lake, and its roof structure will be a "half moon" plane. The audience can enjoy the whole Oriental Sports Center from different angles, and have a panoramic view of the waterfront landscape on both sides of Huangpu River. The theme of water appears repeatedly in architectural design. For example, the general shape of a gymnasium is waves thrown upward, while the swimming pool is made up of arches, just like layers of waves.
More interestingly, from the visual point of view, Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is almost integrated with Huangpu River, and each stadium is planned to echo the artificial lakeside by the river, with a distinctive riverside landscape. The concept of energy saving and emission reduction by science and technology is also obvious. For example, for artificial lakes, natural plants in water can be used to realize the self-purification function of water. For another example, the water source heat pump system with technology, environmental protection and energy saving is adopted, and the water source is taken from artificial lake water to provide heating for swimming pool water in transition season.
Shanghai Oriental Sports Center was officially completed on February 28th, 20 10, and put into use in July, 2010, with a construction period of about 2 years. Upon completion, Shanghai Oriental Sports Center will become a landmark large-scale sports facility in Shanghai, forming the pattern of two large-scale sports centers in Pudong and Puxi. At the same time, the completed Shanghai Oriental Sports Center will be open to the outside world, which will obviously improve the public sports facilities in Shanghai and vigorously promote the implementation of the national fitness plan. Jinshan City Beach is an open water competition venue. The event is divided into 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers and 25 kilometers.
City Beach is located in Jinshan District, Shanghai, in the southwest of Shanghai, on the north bank of Hangzhou Bay. "Urban Beach" is the top priority of coastline development and construction, and it is the most Shanghai-style urban coastal landscape in the Yangtze River Delta. The artificially paved golden beach contrasts with the clear sea water, and the built landscape promenade is close to the beach. Above the promenade is a white wavy ceiling. When the lights on both sides are on at night, the whole promenade is like a long rolling pearl belt, and the waves are really beautiful.
