In the 11th year of Chongzhen (1638), Xu Xiake started his Yunnan-Guizhou tour and visited Baishuihe Waterfall, which is now Huangguoshu Waterfall. Along the way, the main scenic spots he passed were Guanyin Cave, Biyun Cave, Danxia Mountain, Shilin, Kunming Xishan, Cave Group, Qipanshan Mountain, Shui Mu Mountain, Jiuding Mountain, Jizu Mountain, Lijiang River and Miao Feng.

In the twelfth year of Chongzhen (1639), Xu Xiake continued to visit the southwest border, and the scenic spots he visited included Jin Huashan, Putuogan Hot Spring, butterfly spring, the scenic spots around Tiesuo Bridge in Lancang River and Sidonggou Scenic Area. In the 13th year of Chongzhen (1640), Xu Xiake was exhausted. Yunnan local officials sent Xu Xiake back to Jiangyin by car and boat. In the fourteenth year of Chongzhen (164 1), 56-year-old Xu Xiake died at home.
