Teaching you how to take fresh and elegant Japanese photos is inextricably linked with travel, and many Japanese photos are completed during the trip. Recording is a common form of travel photography in Japan, and the content of recording is the dribs and drabs encountered during the journey. The most important thing in shooting is the emotional expression of the subject during the journey. It can be fun and unbridled, or it can be a little melancholy or unexpected surprise. Coupled with the beautiful scenery during the trip, the customs of the tourist destination can be truthfully presented in the photos.
Adopt soft natural light to create fresh vision.
Photo shooting in Japan, especially outdoor photos, is mainly based on natural light. Through the photographer's keen observation and clever use of light, the photo is true, natural, clean and refreshing with soft light. But because it's a travel shoot, many trips have already been arranged, so it's inevitable to shoot at sunny noon. Even if it is rainy, you must raise your camera to shoot. Travel makes photographers very passive in their choice of weather and time.
1, choose prime time shooting.
If conditions permit, the morning or evening light in the prime time of the day is the best time for portrait shooting, and it will be more leisurely to choose this time to shoot. And I like the light at five or six in the evening best. At this time and in the early morning, there is some imagination, and the light is soft and warm.
2, using shading method
When the sun is shining, you can choose to shoot in the shade or under the eaves, or cooperate with some actions to avoid or block the strong light. In addition, the sunscreen hat, which is essential for girls to travel, can also play a good role in avoiding light at this time. Straw hats are also essential props for shooting forest customs.
Step 3 shoot the sunset against the light
When traveling, you can often meet charming sunsets. Backlight shooting is definitely a beautiful picture that can't be missed.
4. Rainy days with diffuse light
Of course, if it is cloudy or rainy, the light is diffuse and the light changes little. The whole sky is a natural soft box, you can press the shutter at any time.
Skills sharing:
1, shot with a film camera. Compared with digital cameras, film cameras have better tolerance, stronger recording ability, more realistic color representation and better stereoscopic and hierarchical images.
2. Pay attention to the composition of environmental portraits. Take more full-length photos, integrate the characters into the big environment, and record the beautiful scenery with obvious geomorphological features during the trip.
3. Shoot while playing and take more snapshots. Don't take pictures for the sake of taking pictures. Of course, you can't miss the beautiful scenery during the trip, and you should always be ready to capture the natural emotions of the characters.
Let the ordinary scene become soft and moving under the lens.
Travel photography is most worried about too many tourists. No matter how beautiful the scene is, many people will inevitably appear confused. When shooting, we should avoid tourists as much as possible, go to some undeveloped and sparsely populated places, and find suitable scenes to take simple photos with a large area of blank space.
1, in an open environment
Such as seaside, highway and prairie. My shooting criteria are: the environment is complete, and people and scenery are combined. If the characters in the photo are deleted, it can still be a good landscape photo.
2. In a complex environment
Such as markets, restaurants, cafes, bookstores, grocery stores, etc. Use a large aperture lens to blur the background, highlight people, or take close-ups of expressions.
Most of these photos were taken in Taiwan Province province. Before shooting, I had a certain impression of some scenery and fresh and comfortable pictures that I might encounter during my trip to Taiwan Province Province. When shooting, I directly chose those simple scenes with Taiwan Province style that are suitable for Japanese photo shooting: roads, seaside, characteristic hotel, grocery stores, snack streets, bookstores, and so on. Clothing collocation should also take into account the scene environment, the color should not be too bright, and the picture should be as simple and comfortable as possible. Coupled with some props such as cameras and sun hats that you often bring when traveling, it gives people a feeling of traveling.
Shooting at the dock, I remember that the sun was quite warm at that time. When the model rested against the wall, she just needed a warm smile to press the shutter.
After that, it helps to grasp the fresh and soft colors.
The colors of Japanese photo albums are actually varied, from the dark color of Ueda Yoshihiko to the fresh and elegant color of Kawauchi Woods and Iwata Jie Jun. Look at your personal style when you shoot. But the colors of the whole picture must be unified and coordinated.
Personally, I prefer fresh and elegant colors. In view of this color, I will have certain requirements on the dress of the characters before shooting. When I adjust the photos later, I will focus on sky blue and grass green to make the picture clean and clear, and appropriately reduce the hue saturation of the picture to make the whole picture look soft and comfortable.
Original film
Effect film
I like the background of this photo and the waistline of the boat. I find it very interesting. The waistline of the ship extends from bottom to top, which is the focus on the left side of the picture. The models are arranged in the lower right of the picture, which is symmetrical with the extension line of the waist line, making the picture more balanced.
This group of people is also in the dock. When we sit together and have a rest, we chat with each other. The model began to make all kinds of funny expressions for the camera. Don't be stingy with the shutter, record them all.
Also at the seaside, from another shooting angle, my back is facing the sea. Although I can't shoot the blue ocean like this, I can record the appearance of the characters looking at the sea from the front of the model, which is real and beautiful.
I remember that it was going to rain and the sky was overcast, so the weather conditions looked very bad, but fortunately it was filmed with film. It was cloudy, and it was the excellent performance of film on cloudy days that recorded this wonderful moment.
At that time, the model was standing on the hillside, and I was under the hillside, looking up to capture the dynamics of the model. The advantage of looking up is that it can exaggerate the perspective relationship and enhance the expressive force of the main body of the picture. When shooting this action, I let the model move by herself and choose to take a snapshot, which requires the photographer to have enough patience, and sometimes good photos need to wait.
This photo was taken by a film camera, using Fuji pro 160NS film, which is characterized by low contrast and soft and natural picture performance. This is perfect for Japanese photography creation. The original film is already great, and the light green tone was slightly adjusted later.
Tosuke Iwata is one of my favorite Japanese photographers. First of all, his photos are all taken by film cameras, most of which are Lulai 6008 and Pentax 67. His photos seem simple, but after careful appreciation for several times, they are thought-provoking and reveal a deep warmth of life. Light blue, simple and pure, the picture is soft, and the ordinary life scene is extremely beautiful.
