The absolute number of doctoral programs increased this time is also less than that of Zhengzhou University, Northern Jiaotong University and other schools. At present, there are 64 doctoral supervisors in the whole school, which is relatively backward in Beijing universities and universities directly under the Ministry of Education. In fact, the discipline construction of Huadian still has a long way to go. Based on the analysis of the current situation of doctoral programs and doctoral supervisors, this paper briefly discusses how Huadian discipline can truly achieve leap-forward development.

First, the status quo of doctoral programs and the number of doctoral supervisors in key universities in China

Absolute quantity comparison

Huadian currently has 14 doctoral programs and 64 doctoral supervisors, ranking lower among universities directly under the Ministry of Education, as well as among key universities in Beijing. It is still low in the ranking of "265,438+065,438+0 Project" colleges, key universities directly under the state ministries and commissions and some provincial key universities. From this point of view, the number of doctoral programs and doctoral supervisors of Huadian is relatively small, which has not yet reached the average level of key universities, and its position in key universities in China is low.

From the distribution of doctoral programs in Huadian, it can be seen that the dominant disciplines of Huadian are still concentrated in the three school-building disciplines of electric power, power (automation is separated from power, which used to be a department) and management. According to the analysis in the previous part, 78.6% of doctoral students are in electric power and electric power specialty, but the number of doctoral students in electric power specialty accounts for 56.9%. These two indicators show that there are still some doctoral supervisors (such as computer department and automation department before adding degree programs) in name only, because there is no doctoral program, and doctoral supervisors can only accept doctoral students as doctoral supervisors or affiliated with other majors. These doctoral resources have not been fully utilized for quite some time. Take the School of Business Administration as an example. However, in the 48 years since Huadian was founded, there is only one doctoral program in technical and economic management (a doctoral program in management science and engineering was added in 2005). These facts have exposed the shortcomings of Huadian's insufficient talent reserve and underutilization in discipline construction.

Strive to have doctoral programs in electronics, computers, information, machinery, hydropower and nuclear power within five years, and obtain first-class disciplines such as automation and business administration.

Continue to strengthen exchanges with universities directly under the Ministry of Education, universities in Beijing, other key universities directly under the Ministry of Education, power industry research institutes and industrial groups, expand Huadian's influence in the south and even the whole country, and build a good brand of Huadian.
