Porsche Panamera broke ground in 2009, becoming the brand's first four-door (with tailgate) sedan, and now it has entered the second generation. It has also been renovated recently, gaining more technology and higher price.

The other is also pioneering. Taycan is the first electric car in Porsche history and a four-door car with similar size. It has been sold in Australia since 202 1.

However, back in Panamera. From here, the scope is extremely complicated. Australia also offers eight other Panamera models with a total cruising range of 9 miles. It feels good to sit behind the steering wheel of Porsche Panamera. The seat position in the hull is low, and the standard heating and cooling sports seat provides various adjustments.

So is the control device. The wheels provide great height and telescopic adjustment. Our car is equipped with a heating "gas turbine" movement, which is a more classic code name for thin-edged tillers. This is my personal favorite, worth $ 1 140.

There is a feeling of being surrounded by a cabin. The tall doorframe and the raised center console support you from both sides. It creates a narrow visibility arc for drivers, which will make some people feel scared when they first contact Panamera.

What is even more difficult to understand is the large number of icons on the raised center console. This is especially true if you choose a series of options to add more functions, such as an expensive but value-for-money sports exhaust device. These icons are substitutes for buttons, which are driven by clever tactile and auditory feedback, turning a flat piece of plastic into something more tactile.

Nevertheless, the arrangement of these buttons instead of icons is still rough. For example, suspension adjustment and traction control icons are located on the passenger side of the center console, not next to the driver, which can be said to be where they should be.

To test my idea, I compared the left cockpit with the right cockpit. The trouble of layout is only focused on the sequelae of driving on the left side of the car, not on the right side. You might think that moving to the touch panel-without physical buttons-means greater layout flexibility, but obviously not.

Another problematic ergonomic decision is to control the adjustment of the vent through the touch screen now. This means that you have to walk around the touch screen to change the direction of the air blowing to you. Porsche Taycan has a similar system, but ironically, its dinosaur juice powered brother got a more intuitive version.

But this is the worst, and the rest are all Grade A materials. Directly in front of the driver is a wonderful combination instrument, which combines analog and digital. In the center is a large-scale tachometer with a classic appearance and a pair of customizable screens on both sides.

As for the basic facilities, there are a pair of cup holders with appropriate size, a small storage area with a cover, a narrow door box and a shallow armrest center console with USB-C port.

The second empty space is spacious, and the backrest and B-pillar in the first row are engraved with clever notches, so that your knees can swing freely. It may sound small, but it's very helpful to get in and out.

Once I went in and sat behind the front driver's seat, and the seat was adjusted to fit my 183 cm figure. The empty space was great for fully developed adults. Compared with Taycan, the rear of Panamera provides more spare space, so if you want to find a reason to clear the name of the internal combustion engine, please consider doing it for your children.

Our car chose the seating arrangement of "4. 1", giving priority to the comfort of two outward-facing seats, but still leaving some middle seats for emergencies. If you are a family of four, or plan to never exceed this limit, then this is the ideal configuration. The back row is comfortable and supportive, and the seat is tilted, which can encourage you to calm down and relax-just like the first row.

Additional equipment in the second row includes a rear console with vents, temperature control and buttons for operating the rear sunroof, two USB-C ports, a small storage tray and more vents, this time on the side column.

If there are only two people in the back row, you can also fold the auxiliary armrest to make room for elbows and drinks. The seating arrangement of 4 also provides skis behind the handrails, which is another trump card.

The spare space in the trunk is as high as 467 liters, which is enough in itself, but considering the size of the vehicle, the spare space is very small. However, this is an area with even proportion. A small stroller can travel vertically, with enough shopping space and a big fitness bag. With the descent of the second row, the number of vacant rooms increased to 1306L, and the tire repair package and air compressor were placed under the floor.

Infotainment and connectivity

In the middle of the dashboard is a new 12.3-inch infotainment system, which made its debut in Taycan. MY22 Panamera introduced wired Android Auto connection, which is a happy thing for many people, but so far it has not.

Another advantage is that Apple CarPlay can now be accessed by wired and wireless means. Other features include the unique native integration of DAB broadcasting and Apple Music to provide a richer user experience.

It also has intelligent data connection and Internet power supply. Porsche provides 14 speaker Bose audio as standard configuration, which does not seem to save audio. Although the brand is flashy, I find that it is mediocre and slightly muddy in rock or other high-pitched remixes.

Safety and technology

As a small-batch and high-cost car, Panamera has not passed the localized ANCAP crash test. The same is true all over the world. Neither NCAP in Europe nor NHTSA authorities in the United States have conducted collision tests.

Standard safety features include lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors at both ends and a 360-degree panoramic parking camera.

But as an entry-level product, you can find some good things in the list of options. The biggest challenge of Panamera's cost-effective proposition comes from the stability of the brand itself. Its fans also like and yearn for the latest technology, which is why the entry-level Taycan, which is much cheaper, hopes to provide more services to the same potential customers.

It is not only brand-new and future-oriented, but also cheaper and faster on paper. First of all, its list price of $65,438+056,300 is $47,200 cheaper than Panamera's $203,500. Almost. It's stronger now. The entry-level Taycan equipped with enhanced batteries can generate 280 kilowatts of electricity every day and 350 kilowatts of huge electricity under launch control. This is far from Taycan's fixed and fairly old 6400 rpm 243 kW.

For some people, scope will be a problem. If official data is used, the enhanced Taycan can travel about 400 kilometers with full charge, while Panamera can travel more than twice, that is, about 800 kilometers. However, purists will like these two driving wheels. They will also enjoy the fun without electric assistance. They only have an old-fashioned 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which can generate 243 kilowatts of power and a stable 450 nanometers at the speed of 65,438+0,800-000 rpm. This is a rough engine, which provides powerful torque for most speeds.

Although it does not show a clear throttle response level related to 9 1 1 and 7 18 models, it still moves under the pedal. Despite the many advantages provided by Sport Chrono, the engine remained stable and made three barks in the process.

Part of the reason for choosing Panamera over Taycan is the engine, so choosing an optional sports exhaust device (our car sells for $765,438+000) feels mandatory. After activation, V6 sounds louder, but there is no melody. If you buy it, please don't listen to Audi RS4 or RS5, because they will make the same engine sound more aggressive. I think it's better this way.

The fuel consumption of the loan for one week is 1 1.7 liters/100 kilometers-more than two liters higher than the official 9.2 liters/100 kilometers. Enjoy the performance, but use it carefully in the same way on the highway.

Weight control and calibration are just right, which is exactly what you expect from Porsche. The steering system is rich in details and trustworthy, and it has done a good job in helping the big and heavy four-door car feel flexible. Air-air suspension also supports this goal, which provides excellent bump suppression and duality that springs can't provide in this kind of vehicle.

In the most comfortable environment, every road is smoother than the actual situation. Due to the poor structure, only part of the surface is wavy, which makes Panamera feel uneasy. I bet this feeling is due to the optional heavy-duty 2 1 inch wheels and the worn thin tires of our car, not its suspension.

Increasing hardness will greatly improve the control of the body, but sometimes it will lack calmness. On a very familiar road, I felt a big bumpy turn in the middle of the curve. Please note that this is the worst bump. It turns faster than usual, which makes many others feel uneasy. More interestingly, compared with the polite behavior of the car in the previous hours, how does this incident stand out? Once again, my intuition tells me that those big wheels are the culprit.

No matter how you decide to customize your entry-level Panamera, it is always a luxury station wagon with extremely fast speed, which can accommodate four adults and suitcases, and the internal combustion is comfortable. The latter point may not be the most disturbing, but it will be a little.

Some people will say that it is written on the wall. Compared with the entry-level Panamera, the faster and future-oriented all-electric Porsche sedan is nearly 25% cheaper, specifically, it is $47,200 cheaper.
