Why is my computer so stuck?
Your configuration is not low. Please refer to the following optimization scheme. This is what I use at home, and I don't use it now.

Accelerated measures:

1, "start"-enter msconfig-during the operation-ok-start-remove all tick marks except the input method ctfmon. Restart.

2. Right-click on My Computer-Properties-Click Advanced-Click Settings in Startup and Recovery-Clear All Checks-Write Debugging Information and Select "None"-OK-Click Advanced Error Report below-Click Disable-OK twice.

3. Start-open the folder option in the control panel-click View-click Remove the check in front of the last automatic search folder-OK.

4. Right-click my computer-Properties-Hardware-Device Manager-Double-click IDE controller-Secondary channel-Advanced settings-Select DMA for all transmission modes-Select None for device type-OK-The primary channel is also set-OK.

5. Right-click drive C, and clean the disk and restore the system in other options.

6. Delete everything in "C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch (read-ahead file) and C:\WINDOWS\Temp (temporary file).

7. Right-click the browser E- Properties-click 2 Delete 1 Clear (all must be confirmed one by one)-OK.

8. Empty the recycle bin.

(It is enough to clean it at 5, 6, 7 and 8 o'clock a month. )

9. Close the debugger Dr. Watson, run drwtsn32, and delete everything except "Dump all thread contexts".

10. Turn off "Restore with System XP" and right-click "My Computer" to restore the system. (It is recommended not to turn it off. Turning it off can only speed up the system, which is not good for the computer. )

1 1. Turn off hibernation support: Because hibernation takes up a lot of hard disk space, it is best to turn it off. Control panel->; Power options-> Hibernate (don't tick)

12. Speed up the browsing speed of Win XP online neighbors!

Open the registry and click Start-Run-Enter regedit-HKEY _ Local _ Machine/Software/Microsoft /Windows.

/currentversion/explorer/remotecomputer/namespace. Select the key value by column: {d6277990-4c6a-1/cf-87-00a060f5bf}, and delete the unnecessary key value below. After restarting, you will find that there are many icons missing from the desktop.

13. Power switch for accelerating XP:

1: Shorten waiting time:

Open the Registry Editor (Start-Run-Enter regedit-) and find HKEY _ Local _ Machine \ System \ Current Control Set \ Control.

Set WaitToKillServiceTimeout to: 1000 or less. (Original setting value: 20000), that is, just wait 1 second when closing the program. Change the HungAppTimeout value to: 200 (original setting value: 5000), which means waiting for 0.5 seconds when the program makes an error.

2. Let the system automatically shut down the program that stops responding:

Open HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop key in the registry.

Set the AutoEndTasks value to 1. (Original setting value: 0)

3: MsConfig Most friends should be familiar with MsConfig, which is a built-in Windows setup tool. Click the Start menu, select Run, and then type msconfig in the input box and press enter. What we need to do is tamper with the label. Click it. This tab shows all programs that were running when Windows started. Apart from ctfmon, there are no life-and-death programs for Windows, and you can delete them if you don't want them. After removing some checkmarks, Windows will start faster and there will be more idle system resources.

14. Cancel the compressed folder tool that comes with XP:

Click start->; Run, type: regsvr32/u zipfldr.dll. Then get into the car.

15. Turn off error reporting:

Console-> System-> Advanced-> Lower right corner-> Error Report-> Close.

16. Change the location of temporary files

A. System temporary files: Because the system will generate a large number of temporary files every day, if stored on the system disk, it will generate a large number of disk fragments, which will lead to the slower and slower system speed. Temporary files are generally generated when installing software, decompressing and releasing compressed packages, and surfing the Internet. And if you download it frequently, there will be a lot of temporary files.

The way to change the storage location of temporary files is to right-click My Computer and set environment variables in Advanced of the Properties dialog box. Variables temp and tmp are set to other disks, so just choose Edit and change the path. Just change the variable before Local Settings\Temp and change it to the volume label of the drive letter.

There are two variables temp and tmp in the following "system variables", just change them to the same ones directly.

B. Temporary Internet files: directly right-click the Properties dialog box in Internet Explorer and select General; In the Temporary Internet Files option, click the Settings dialog box and select Move Folder, and then point temporary Internet files to the temporary folder of system files. Users unfamiliar with computers are advised not to change the location of temporary files. If the change fails, your computer will not be able to use the browser, so you will not be able to surf the Internet.

17, weekly antivirus.

18, download the free latest optimization master V7.2build.65 16 registration-free optimization system.

19. Automatically end the task when turning off the computer:

When you turn off your phone, sometimes an annoying dialog box will pop up to remind you that a program is still running, whether to end the task or not. In fact, with a little modification, you can let Windows automatically end these programs that are still running. Open HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop directory in the registry, and change the key value of AugoEndTasks to 1.

20. Internet time synchronization

If you use time synchronization ~ then your computer will check with the online time server at regular intervals, wasting some memory. It is recommended to turn it off, because the time deviation will be almost good when your computer starts to adjust the time. Start of closing mode → control panel → date and time language and regional options → date and time → Internet time closing synchronization ~

2 1. Turn off the fast user switching function.

A striking function of WIN XP is called "fast switching", which allows many users to use computers at the same time, but this function also consumes a certain amount of memory. If your memory is installed with 64M WIN XP, this function will be automatically disabled ~ It will be a bit too much for users of 128M, so it is suggested to close ~ Method Control Panel → User Account → Change the login or logout mode of users and remove the use of fast user switching ~

22. Accelerate menu display

Open the Registry Editor, find HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop, and change the MenuShowDelay item (400) below it to 0, and your menu will be unexpectedly fast.

23. Delete * * * Enjoy the document:

By default, when I open my computer in Windows XP, I will see some folders above the hard disk icon. These are "* * * Shared Folders", and there are folders for everyone to enjoy files. These folders are particularly annoying and unnecessary. We can make these folders disappear in my computer: open the registry editor and delete HKEY _ Local _ Machine \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Explorer \ My Computer \ Namespace \ {59031a47-3f72-4a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee} under the Delegate folder, open my computer next time.

24. Shorten the waiting time of program response.

Open registry editor

Find HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ current control set \ control, and set WaitToKillServiceTimeout to: 1000 or less (original setting: 20000).

Find the HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop key, and change the WaitToKillAppTimeout in the right window to 1000 (original setting: 20000), that is, just wait for 1 second when closing the program. Change the HungAppTimeout value to: 200 (original setting value: 5000), which means waiting for 0.5 seconds when the program makes an error.

25. System acceleration

Manually identify the secondary cache of cpu to improve the performance of cpu;

Found "[HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ current control set \ control \ session manager \ memory management \ second-level data cache]"; Modify its decimal system:

AMD duron: 64 (kb);

Celerona/Celerona 2:128;

PII/PIII E(EB)/P4/AMD K6-3/AMD Thunderbird/Cyrix III: 256;

AMD K6-2/PII/PIII Katmai /AMD Athlon: 512;

PII Xeon /PIII Xeon:1024;

Go to [HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ current control set \ control \ session manager \ memory management \ iopagelocklimit];

Modify its hexadecimal value according to your memory:

64M: 1000;

128m:4000;

256m: 10000;

More than 5 12M: 40000.

Pre-reading setting improves the speed, and xp adopts the new technology of pre-reading setting to improve the system speed.

Go to [HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ current control set \ control \ session manager \ memory management \ prefetch parameters \ enable prefetcher];

Set the value to 0, 1, 2,3. 0- Disable, 1- Read ahead the application, 2- Start reading ahead, 3- Read ahead both ("3", recommended). Of course, if you want to be quick, you can choose 0.

27. Let the system automatically shut down the program that stops responding.

Open the HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop key in the registry and set the AutoEndTasks value to 1. (Original setting value: 0)

28. Remove the sound when making mistakes.

Application: Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP.

Methods: Open the sound sub-item of HKEY _ Local _ User Control Panel, create a new string value named "Beep" in the right window, double-click the value, and enter "No" in the pop-up dialog box. If the user needs to restore the sound, he can only change the value to "Yes".

29. Optimize startup settings

Right-click My Computer, select Properties, click the Startup and Troubleshooting tab under Advanced, and delete the options of "Write Events to System Log", "Send Management Alert" and "Automatic Restart"; Set "Write Debugging Information" to "None"; Click "Edit" to pop up the Notepad file, which will:

[operating system]?

Multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ Windows = "Microsoft Windows XP Professional"/fast detect Change fastdetect to nodetect, save and exit.

Run the registry editor, find "HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ control set 00 1 \ control", change the key value of SystemStartOptions in the right window to NODETECT, save and exit.

30.Windows XP optimization

Restore the classic Windows interface

The first feeling of many people after installing Windows XP is that Windows has become extremely beautiful. It's just a pity that the price of beauty will consume our poor memory and video memory. To restore the interface and usage habits similar to classic Windows, right-click the desktop and select the "Properties" command to enter the "Display Properties" setting window. There are five tabs: theme, desktop, screen saver, appearance and settings. There will be a bright yellow highlight on the tab of the current tab. By default, it is the Themes tab. Here, we can select "Windows Classic" in the "Theme" drop-down menu to see the display effect in the preview window immediately, and at the same time, the content of the appearance tab will change accordingly.

Note: Themes in Windows XP are closely related to appearance tabs. If you change any of the options, you will see the corresponding changes in another tab.

Restore the start menu.

The new "Start" menu of Windows XP is quite convenient and has little impact on system resources. If you like the classic menu in the past, right-click the blank space of the taskbar, select the "Properties" menu, enter the setting window of "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties", select the [Start] menu tab, and select the "Classic [Start] menu" to restore to the previous appearance.

Optimize visual effects

The operating interface of Windows XP is really beautiful, which is at the cost of consuming a lot of memory. Compared with speed and beauty, we would rather choose the former, right-click My Computer, click Properties/Advanced, and click Settings/Visual Effects in the performance column, where we can see all the settings of the appearance and manually remove some unnecessary functions. We can save a lot of memory by turning off all special appearance settings such as fade-in/fade-out, smooth scrolling and sliding opening.

3 1. Close Remote Desktop

One feature of this feature is to allow others to access your desktop on another machine. This function is very useful in LAN. For example, if you have a problem, you can ask your colleagues for help. He can directly access your machine through the "remote desktop" to help you solve the problem. But for ordinary users who only have one computer, this function is redundant, so we turn it off and don't let it waste memory there. The specific operation is: right-click my computer, select Properties/Remote, and uncheck "Allow users to connect to this computer remotely" on the remote desktop.

32. Reasonable setting of virtual memory

For virtual memory files, Windows XP always sets a large default value for security, which wastes a lot of hard disk space. In fact, we can set its value lower. The method is: enter "Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/Advanced/Virtual Memory/Change" and come to the virtual memory setting window. First, determine the drive letter of your paging file, and then disable all paging files with other drive letters. It is suggested that you set it to another partition instead of the default partition where the system is located, which can improve the reading and writing speed of the page file and facilitate the rapid operation of the system. According to Microsoft's suggestion, the page file should be set to 1.5 times the memory capacity, but if your memory is large, it will take up quite a lot of space. Therefore, it is recommended to set the memory capacity below 256MB to 1.5 times, and the maximum and minimum values are the same. If it is above 5 12MB, it is completely feasible to set it to half the memory capacity.

33.MSN is forbidden to start with Windows.

Messenger always runs automatically every time you start Windows. Even if you don't want to start it, it will run automatically, which is very annoying. Can we stop starting with Windows? The answer is yes.

The first method:

1. Click Run in the start menu, enter msconfig in the open box, and then click OK to open the system configuration utility window.

2. Click the startup tab, clear the check box in front of MSMSGS in the startup project list, and then click OK.

3. When prompted to "restart the computer", click the "Yes" button.

The second method:

1. Open the Registry Editor window.

2. Expand the branch of "Key _ Current _ User Software Microsoft Windows Current Version Run" in turn, then right-click MSMSGS in the right pane and click Delete in the shortcut menu. Click Yes when prompted to confirm the deletion.

After setting, MSN will never start with the start of Windows XP.

Optimized bandwidth

Windows XP Professional Edition adds QoSRRP (abbreviation of quality of service resource reservation protocol, meaning quality of service resource reservation protocol). Generally speaking, when trying to access information through the available bandwidth, the application either passes through the QoS API or another API called TCI. In network communication, it is undoubtedly a good thing to reserve a certain bandwidth for managers for business security, but ordinary users don't need this function, which wastes a part of bandwidth invisibly (default is 20%), so I provide a method to cancel this function here.

Select the "Start" menu and click "Logout" to enter the login main interface. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice in the login main screen to open the login window. Enter the administrator in the user name (note: it is case-sensitive), fill in your own password in the password field (if no password is set), and press ok to enter Windows. Click Start/Run, enter gpedit.msc to enter the group policy window, select computer configuration/management template/network /QoS packet scheduler in the left window, double-click limit reserved bandwidth in the right window, select Enable, set bandwidth limit (%) to 0, click Apply, and then click OK.

Note: Users of Windows XP Home Edition do not have to change these settings.

34. Reduce the waiting time for disk scanning.

Although WindowsXP claims to be stable, it doesn't always crash. Occasionally it will turn your face blue. After the illegal operation, the system will automatically scan, and large chunks of E text will appear, telling you that the system has just ended abnormally. Now you need to check whether there are any errors, but it will take some time to start, so we can type "chkntfs/t:0" in dos, indicating that the waiting time is 0 seconds.

35.IE browser acceleration skills

Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer6, and there is a little trick. After modification, it starts quickly (on my computer, it starts instantly). To do this, right-click the Internet Explorer shortcut icon (such as IE icon in the shortcut bar of the taskbar), open the icon properties and add the "-nohome" parameter after the "target".

Second, the file management and operation skills

Encrypt files and folders

Right-click any files and folders that need to be encrypted, select the Properties command, click the General tab, and then select Advanced Encrypted Content to Protect Data and confirm. It should be noted that the encryption operation of Windows XP is only for NTFS-formatted disk partitions, and does not provide encryption support for traditional FAT 16 and FAT32-formatted partitions. If you want to use encryption, you need to convert the disk to NTFS format.

Custom folder picture

Windows XP has added a new folder picture function, which provides more picture resources for users to choose from than the original icons. You can use this function to set any picture you like as a folder icon by selecting any folder in the Explorer, right-clicking it, selecting the Properties command, and then selecting the Customize tab in the dialog box that opens. Click the Select Picture button to select a graphic file as the folder picture, click the Change Icon button to change the folder icon, and then click OK. In the future, when you choose to view files as "thumbnails" in Explorer, you can see the folder pictures you defined.

Move and copy files quickly.

Select the file to move or copy in the Explorer, then drag the file to the destination folder with the right mouse button, and then release the mouse. A menu will pop up, allowing you to choose to copy, move files or create shortcuts, or even cancel it.

36. Open Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services, and close everything except services:

The above configuration is only applicable to XP system. Click Settings and select the type you want to disable.

37. Control Panel-Internet Options-Temporary File Settings-Select "Do not check" to reduce the waiting time when IE opens. Of course, you can set the home page to be empty. This method is a perfect solution for friends who want to have a home page. (Personal knock on the door)

38. People sometimes overlook that turning off mouse properties-pointer-enabling pointer shadow function can also save a lot of memory.
