What was the cause of Guo Jing's death?
Guo Jing was written by Jin Yong.

There is no Guo Jing in history, but a fictional character in Jin Yong's works. But Jin Yong also said that when the characters in his works are finished, he can no longer control their fate. Therefore, when Guo Jing was portrayed as a "chivalrous man, serving the country and benefiting the people" and entered Xiangyang, Guo Jing's final fate was only one: he died after being a martyr.

Guo Jing's final fate is explained in the trilogy "Eternal Dragon Slayer":

Chapter 9 The party of the Seven Heroes is not over yet?

Yin Susu said, "I once heard my father say that Guo is a very important person. Her father is Guo Daxia and Guo Jing, and her mother is Huang Rong, the yellow leader of the beggars' gang. Xiangyang fell and both Guo Daxia and his wife died. " Yu Lianzhou said, "Exactly. My tutor once had a close relationship with Mr. and Mrs. Guo Daxia at the top of Huashan Mountain. Whenever I mention their deeds of benevolence and righteousness for the country and the people, I often say that people who study martial arts should follow the example of Guo Daxia and his wife for life. " ……

Chapter 27 Hundred-foot Tower Ren Xianghui

The master said, "After casting a knife and a sword, Mr. and Mrs. Guo Daxia gave their son Guo Gong a treasure knife, and this sword was passed on to our Guo Zushi. Of course, Guo Zushi was once taught martial arts by his parents, and Guo Gong should also teach the art of war when he broke Lu. However, on the day Xiangyang City was breached, Guo Daxia and his wife were martyred at the same time. Guo Zushi's temper doesn't match his father's martial arts, so this martial arts school is different from Guo Daxia's. "

Guo Jing has been guarding Xiangyang for 20 years and experienced the Second World War in Xiangyang, which does not exist. In history, Mengge actually died at the foot of fishing town in Sichuan, which is a fortress stronger than Xiangyang. It was not until the demise of the Southern Song Dynasty, when the little emperor jumped into the sea and the country was ruined, that Kaesong finally surrendered under the condition that Mongolian Chen Nuo would never massacre the city. Jin Yong moved this period of history to Xiangyang at the gates.

Finally, Xiangyang city was besieged for five years, and the imperial reinforcements were repelled several times. The Mongols also introduced the ultra-long-range pull-back gun developed by Arabs, which wiped out Fancheng, which was at odds with Xiangyang, and lost its vitality. The garrison commander Lu had to surrender to the city and keep a little Han blood in Xiangyang.

With Guo Jing's martial arts and Guo Jing's position in Mongolia, it is easy to stay out of the city. But finally Xiangyang City surrendered. Why did Guo Jing break the country? If we insist on a reasonable explanation, there can only be one truth: Guo Jing died in Fancheng, not Xiangyang.

Let's follow the trace of history to stroke the death of Guo Jing again. (Note: Chapter 40 of the sculpture shows that Guo Jing is a cow, which was born in 1205 by chronological calculation).

Since ancient times, Xiangfan has been integrated, facing each other across the river. Xiangyang is just the collective name of Xiangyang City and Fancheng.

1259, Mungo was stoned to death by Yang Guo at the gate of Xiangyang, and Kublai Khan, Li Mobei and his younger brother Abri competed for the throne of Khan. Guo Jing was 54 years old.

1264, Abri fell and Kublai Khan became Mongolian Khan. Guo Jing is 59 years old.

1267, Liu Zheng, commander-in-chief of the Southern Song Dynasty, advised Xiangyang to be the first to destroy the Southern Song Dynasty. Guo Jing was 62 years old.

1269, the Mongols completed the siege of Fancheng. The imperial court sent Zhang Shijie, Pi and Fan to the rescue, but they were repelled by the Mongolian army. Lv Wende of Xiangyang was deeply remorseful and finally died of gangrene on his back. Xiangyang Shoujiang was replaced by his younger brother Lu. Guo Jing is 64 years old.

127 1 year, the Mongolian army completed the siege of Xiangyang city. During these three years, all the documents of Xiangyang seeking help were detained by Jia Sidao, the powerful minister, and no reinforcements were obtained. Guo Jing should enter Fancheng at this time to help guard Fancheng. Guo Jing is 66 years old.

1272, the Mongolian army launched a general attack on Fancheng and was repelled many times. The imperial reinforcements finally arrived, but only a few thousand people rushed into the city, and the rest were repelled by the Mongols. The siege of Xiangfan has never been solved. Guo Jing is 67 years old.

1273, the Mongolian army launched the final offensive against Fancheng, transferred the latest artillery to attack the city, and burned the pontoon bridge between Xiangyang and Fancheng, completely isolating Fancheng. Liu Zheng led warships to the gates of Fancheng, opened the southwest corner with shelling, and the city was broken. Guo Jing died for his country. Prior to this, Jing Rong and his wife hid their lifelong martial arts and art of war in the Sword of Eternal Reliance and the Dragon Slaughter Road, which was handed over to Guo Xiang and Guo Polu, their son. But in the end, Mr. and Mrs. Guo Jing died in martyrdom, and Guo Polu also died in combat, and Tulong Island fell into the hands of the Mongols. Guo Jing died at the age of 68.

After Fancheng was captured, the Mongols slaughtered the soldiers and civilians in the city and continued to attack the city with artillery. Guo Jing died, and people in Xiangyang City panicked. Finally, Lu Xiancheng surrendered, and Xiangyang finally fell after five years of persistence. Six years later, 1279, Yashan naval battle, Song died ~ ~.
