After the widening of Jinan Road, the revival and development of Zhongshan Road area and even the whole western region has an important strategic fulcrum.
Geographically, Jinan Road is located on the west side of Zhongshan Road, adjacent to Ji Jiao Line. Its north and south ends can lead to Qingdao Railway Station, Jiaoning Elevated Road and COVID-19 Elevated Road respectively, which has the innate conditions to undertake the north-south transit traffic in Zhongshan Road area. After widening, the original narrowest place of Jinan Road is only about 3 meters wide, and the reconstructed carriageway is 100 meters wide, with four lanes in both directions, which can bear more traffic. At the same time, green belts and auxiliary roads are set up on the west side of the main line, as well as bus stops and some parking spaces.

The most important link of Jinan Road widening is the expropriation and demolition of 500 houses, which provides realistic conditions for road widening. Zhongshan Road Street in Shinan District, District Real Estate Management Office, District Urban Construction Bureau, District Insurance Development Bureau, lawyers and evaluation agencies have also formed a joint force to ensure that the contracted person can get compensation within one week.

Li, head of Qingdao Haiming Urban Development Co., Ltd. said that in order to make full use of land resources, Jinan Road widening project will be built into a ground parking lot with about 60 parking spaces at the corner of the demolished house on the railway side. At the same time, the underground mechanical parking lot in Little Square, located at the intersection of Jinan Road (Jinan Road, Tai 'an Road, Beijing Road, Tianjin Road, Dagu Road and Feicheng Road), is also under construction, and 200 parking spaces will be added upon completion. The underground garage uses computers, sensors, cameras and handling and switching equipment systems to access cars, realizing efficient and unattended intelligent management. In addition, there are planned parking spaces 100 at the intersection of Shanxi Road and Jinan Road, including 60 above-ground parking spaces and 40 underground parking spaces.
The reporter noticed that in the northern section of Zhongshan Road, in March, the parking lot project of Licun Road in Shibei District started construction, and the project designed 505 parking spaces. In the reconstruction project of Qingdao Bay Plaza in the south section of Zhongshan Road, a large underground parking space was also planned. The construction of these parking carriers will make up for the shortcomings of parking facilities in the old western city, and provide strong support for the protection and renewal of Zhongshan Road historical city and the landing of surrounding industries.

The regional protection and renewal of Zhongshan Road is a historic project focusing on the development of Qingdao in the next century, and it is also the "No.1 Project" in Shinan District. Among them, Qingdao Bay Plaza project plans to build an urban comprehensive plaza integrating commerce, tourism, culture and transportation, and is currently improving the planning scheme and carrying out land consolidation in the first phase of the project; In the early stage, Guofeng Hotel on this plot has been demolished. According to the plan, Hairun Building, Hualian Department Store and other buildings will be demolished before the end of Shinan.
Zhongshan Road will focus on supporting the development of film and television facilities, creative design, high-end homestays, art performances and immersive experiences. Among them, the Huangdao Road area will introduce art exhibitions, artists exhibitions and brand flagship stores to create a fashion experience block; Ningyang road area will introduce brand B&B institutions to create a B&B style block; Beijing Road area plans to introduce avant-garde art institutions to create a "national tide" cultural and creative block.
