In 1980s, the American hip-hop movie "Break Dance" was introduced to China, which had a great influence on us. As a result, a large number of dancers with quite high level appeared in China almost at the same time as in the United States. Since the mid-1990s, street dance has gradually spread in Chinese mainland, mainly in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. Influenced by Hong Kong and Taiwan, Guangzhou's hip-hop and its hip-hop culture appeared earlier and quickly became popular in the whole province. Among them, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Shenyang, Chongqing and Kunming are the most active.
There are many kinds of street dance, but each dance is not completely independent. Many movements combine various dance styles, and the same style can be reflected in different dances of different movements. It is precisely because of this that various styles have appeared in major street dance competitions. And our common street dance types can be roughly divided into ten types. They are Lock, Pop, Break, Hip-hop, House, Reggie, Krump, Waacking, Lawn and Jazz. Of course, every big dance will have a smaller classification. At present, hiphop, popping, breaking and jazz are the most popular dances in dance studios all over the country. Hiphop and jazz are mostly female dancers, while Popping and break are mostly male dancers.
