Recently, Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China, entered a dry season. With the decline of water level, some lake areas gradually show the bottom landform of ravines, and the "slim" Poyang Lake shows a unique "skinny beauty" in winter.
Poyang Lake was called Peng and Peng Ze in ancient times. Poyang Lake is an important shallow water lake in the Yangtze River basin, which has the characteristics of flooding, throughput and seasonality. Poyang Lake is located in the north of Jiangxi Province, on the south bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The horizontal area of the lake is 3 150 square kilometers (14~ 15 meters), and the high horizontal area is 4 125 thousand square kilometers (20 meters). But at low water level (12m), it is only 500km2. According to the hydrological data in 2008, when the water level of the lake is 22.59 meters, the lake area is 4070 square kilometers. Poyang Lake is the largest freshwater lake in China and the second largest lake in China. It is located in the north of Jiangxi Province and the second largest lake in China after Qinghai Lake.
