The Origin, History and Culture of Xiuyu Guasha Board
Xiuyan jade, called Xiuyu for short, is obviously named after its place of origin. Xiuyan jade, from Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning Province, is the "Jade Capital". Xiuyan County is located in the northern hinterland of Liaodong Peninsula and the east of Qian Shan Mountains. The terrain of Xiuyan is mainly low mountains and hills, with a small alluvial plain in the middle. The climate belongs to the humid area in the north temperate zone and has the characteristics of monsoon climate. Xiuyan Formation belongs to Yingkou-Dandong Formation in Liaodong Sub-division of North China Stratigraphic Area, and the exposed strata include Liaohe Group of Lower Proterozoic, Sinian System of Upper Proterozoic, Carboniferous-Permian System of Paleozoic, Upper Jurassic System of Mesozoic and Quaternary System of Cenozoic. Dashiqiao Formation of Liaohe Group in Lower Proterozoic is characterized by extremely thick magnesium-rich carbonate rocks. The thickness is 392-604m, and it is distributed in Beiwagou, Wangjiapuzi and other areas. It is the main metallogenic belt of Xiuyan jade stone. Xiuyan jade is an important member of China Gem Family. It is famous for its moist texture, delicate crystal, firm nature, good transparency and diverse colors, and has been valued and cherished by people since ancient times.

The Chinese nation first discovered and used jade, and the history of its discovery and use is inseparable from the history of xiuyan jade. So far, the earliest jade in China, the jade cutter in the late Paleolithic period, is made of jade. The earliest jade article in China, Yufu in the early Neolithic period, was made of jade. The earliest jade article in China —— Jade Jue in the early Neolithic period was made of jade. The jade with the highest carving skill in primitive society, the Gouyun device, is made of jade. The earliest dragon image, the jade dog dragon in the late Neolithic period, was also made of jade. It can be said that as early as the primitive culture stage, xiuyan jade has already set several "China's best".

As for China's jade and the cradle of jade culture-Northeast Hongshan Culture, jade is everywhere. Especially the Jade Pig Dragon, Horseshoe and Gouyun, which have special symbolic meanings, are almost all made in xiuyan jade. So it can be said that the jade in Hongshan Culture is represented by xiuyan jade. In addition, there are a lot of xiuyan jade in Liangzhu culture in Taihu Lake basin, and there are a lot of ancient jade in Longshan culture, another birthplace of China jade. In the primitive culture period, jade was also widely used to make tools and weapons, such as jade shovel, jade knife, jade Zhang, jade Yue and so on. Therefore, jade also played an important role in the "Jade Warrior Age" between the Neolithic Age and the Bronze Age. In short, as early as the gestation, development and maturity of prehistoric Chinese jade, Xiuyu has been on the elegant stage for thousands of years. After entering the slave society and feudal society, the development of jade in China became more and more perfect, even reaching the peak of ancient times in Qing Dynasty. In the class society of thousands of years, Xiuyu is still valued by all previous dynasties. The jade articles in Wuding Tomb of Zhou Aifei in Yin Ruins, the jade articles in Zhongshan King's Tomb in Warring States and the jade clothes of Wang Jing in Zhongshan in the Western Han Dynasty are the best examples. As for the Qing dynasty, Xiuyu was "popular in the city", and even "a good ancient home, where elegant purchases are made, the rest will be profitable."

The unique natural environment and complex geological structure have given birth to rich jade resources and other resources. The industrious and intelligent people have created wonderful art represented by jade carving, an ancient tradition and a long history, and formed the Xiuyu culture with regional characteristics.
