1, memory performance optimization
There are several options to optimize memory performance in Windows XP, which are located under the registry: HKEY _ Local _ Machine System Current Control Control Session Manager Memory Management.
1) disables the paging executor.
Under normal circumstances, XP will write the fragments in memory to the hard disk. We can prevent it from doing this and save the data in memory, thus improving the system performance. It should be noted that users with large memory (above 256M) can use this setting. The name of this setting is just like its function, and it is called "DisablePagingExecutive". Changing its value from 0 to 1 can disable memory page scheduling.
2) Improve the system cache: change the key value of LargeSystemCache from 0 to 1, and Windows XP will allocate all system memory except 4M to the file system cache, which means that XP kernel can run in memory, greatly improving the system speed. The remaining 4M memory is used for disk cache, and XP will allocate more if necessary under certain conditions. Generally speaking, this optimization will greatly improve the system performance, but it may also reduce the performance of some applications. As mentioned above, you must have more than 256M memory to activate LargeSystemCache, otherwise don't touch it.
3) Input/output performance: This optimization is only meaningful for server users? The performance of the system can be improved when transmitting large-capacity files. By default, this key does not exist in the registry, so you must create a DWORD (double-byte value) key and name it IOPageLockLimit. When using this optimization, most people find that the performance is the best between 8 and 16M bytes. What is the specific value of the model that can be set to "Let's make sure the key is used to read rice paper"? Play? ┤缒阋? Hey? 2M is12 *1024 *1024, which means 125829 12. Just like the previous memory optimization, you can only change the value here when the memory is greater than 256 mm.
2. Turn on DMA: Select IDE ATA/ATAPI controller in Device Manager, enter the advanced settings of main/auxiliary IDE channels, set all transfer modes to use DMA (if any), and the system will automatically turn on DMA support (also set it to support DMA in BIOS first).
3. Turn off the automatic operation function of the optical drive in XP: turn on my computer. Under Removable Storage Devices, right-click the CD-ROM drive, and then click Properties. See the "AutoPlay" label? Change it yourself.
4. Setting CPU:Windows XP cannot automatically detect the second-level cache capacity of the processor, so we need to set it manually in the registry. First, open the registry (enter "Regedit" when operating), and then open:
HKEY _ Local _ MachinerSystemCurrentControlSetControlSession Manager memory management, select "SecondLevelDataCache" and set it according to your own processor, for example, PIII· Copom/P4 Willamette is 256, Athlon XP is 384, and P4 Northwood is 5 12.
5. When 5.XP installs the driver, a window often appears, saying that this program has not been verified by Microsoft. Can we use it in the control panel? System? Hardware? Equipment manager? The driver signs, sees the options, and knows what to do.
6. Prioritize IRQ interrupt requests
Every major part of the computer has an IRQ interrupt number. This is to achieve the optimization goal by modifying the priority of each IRQ request. The main optimization object here is the system /CMOS real-time clock, which improves the performance through the motherboard. First, determine which component you want to achieve higher performance, and then find the IRQ interrupt number that this hardware is using. How to find it? Open the system properties in the control panel (or press the Windows+Break hotkey combination on the keyboard to open it). Select the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button. Right-click the component for which you want to check the IRQ number, select Properties, and then click the Resources tab. Here you can see the IRQ interrupt number that the device is using (if there is no IRQ interrupt number, please select another device). Write down the interrupt number, and then run the registry editor regedit to find the location of the current control setting control priority control of HKEY _ Local _ Machine System in the registry. We need to establish a DWORD double-byte value called IRQ#Priority (where "#" is the specific IRQ interrupt number) here, and then set its value to 1. For example, the IRQ interrupt number of my system CMOS real-time clock is 8, and the key name I want to establish is IRQ8Priority. After restarting the computer, you will find that the performance of the newly optimized components has improved. I strongly recommend this method to optimize the system CMOS real-time clock, because it can improve the performance of the whole motherboard. Of course, the priority of multiple IRQ interrupt numbers can also be increased, but the effect is not very good, and the system may be unstable. If you want to cancel this optimization setting, you only need to delete the newly established registry key value.
Network optimization:
1, speed up * * * enjoyment: this is a great optimization. Before I found this optimization, my scalp often cracked when I waited for the window to display the * * * enjoy directory on other computers. Usually, when Windows XP connects to another computer, it checks all scheduled tasks on the other computer? This is really unnecessary, and it will make you wait for 30 seconds, which is too bad. Fortunately, it is easy to ban this process. First, find HKEY _ local _ MachinesoftWindows/CurrentVersionExplorermoteComputerNamespace in the registry. In this regard, there should be a
{d6277990-4c6a-11cf-87-00aa0060f5bf} key. Delete it directly. After restarting the computer, Windows will no longer check the scheduled tasks, and the speed will be significantly improved!
2. Solve the pause problem during the execution of WinXP.
Start? Network connection? Local connection, right-click, select Properties, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", click Properties, and use the following IP address:192.168.0.1,subnet mask: 255.255.0, that's all.
3. How to make XP automatically connect to the Internet:
IE? Tools? Internet options? Connect, check' Dial when the network does not exist' and pull IE to' Start'.
Every time you turn it on, you are online! There is another way:
Enter the content of the link, uncheck "Prompt for name, password, certificate, etc.", and then pull the link "Start" (Note: it is estimated that the original author is from Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the words are different. I don't know what simplified Chinese is here because I use broadband to surf the Internet. Friends who have successfully revised will reply to a post for me to revise. )
4. By default, XP Pro will reserve 20% of the network card bandwidth. The way to modify it is to log in with administrator rights and start the menu? Run? Type gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy window, expand Network in Administrative Templates, expand QoS Packet Scheduler, right-click Restrict Reserved Bandwidth in the right window, set Restrict Reserved Bandwidth in Properties, select Enable, and then select a value in the Bandwidth Restrict column below. Please refer to the "Description" column next to "Attribute" for specific modifications. After the above modifications and applications, users should be able to see the QoS Packet Scheduler in the General Properties tab of the Network Connection Properties dialog box. This operation is not supported by Home Edition, and the restriction cannot be lifted!
5.xp has a built-in firewall, which is not turned on by default. For details about the setting method, please refer to "Full Firewall Settings".
The method of losing weight in the partition where XP system is located.
1. Delete the system file backup sfc.exe/Purge cache (rarely used by ordinary users).
2 delete the Driver.cab file (73mb) in the driver cachei386 directory of the driver backup window.
3. Cancel the system restore (overall, the system restore function is still good. It is recommended not to use any disks except those installed by xp. If there is not enough hard disk space one day, you can delete some earlier restore points through the system cleaner).
4. Delete the help file (minus more than 40 mb) (the file size of the Chinese localization package is 92 megabytes, so comrades who just started using xp had better not delete it).
5. Delete files under WINDOWSsystem32dllcache (minus 200? 300 megabytes). (This is a backup dll file. As long as you copy the installation file, you can do it completely. In this case, you have nothing to say
6. Transfer my documents and IE's temporary folder to other disks (partitions). At the same time, it is good for the speed of the system and the hard disk. If you use a dual system, it is best to put the IE temporary files of the two systems in the same folder, which will speed up and save space. )
7. Transfer the virtual memory to another disk. (Just put these things and the temporarily downloaded files in a small partition, which is also convenient for sorting out the hard disk.)
8. Install the application software on other disks (this is also good for reinstalling the system and can save a lot of things).
9. Delete the input method that is not used under windowsime! (Japanese, Korean, traditional Chinese input method, 84.5MB) (which is which? Find out for yourself! Sometimes you have to use your brain. Do some exercise! )
10, if xp is installed with ntfs, the site itself will be saved.
Verb (short for verb) others
1, activate the display:
After booting, open the run bar in the start menu and enter: oobe/msoobe /a a.
If "Windows product is enabled" appears, it means that Windows is enabled.
2, making dos startup disk:
Right-click "3.5 floppy disk", select Format, and then select "Create MS-DOS Boot Disk".
3, solve the task bar suspended animation (authority to eliminate QQ, IE, etc. Causing the taskbar to fake death)
Control panel `-? Regional and language options'-? Language? Specifically, in the pop-up setting window, select the preferred language bar, turn off "Display Language Bar on Desktop", and check the third checkbox "Display Other Language Bar Icons in the notification area". If you don't need handwriting recognition or speech recognition, you can also check the last item' Turn off advanced text service'.
4. Compatibility of some software (applicable to home edition and professional edition).
For QQ suspended animation and other programs that can't run normally under XP, you can find the execution file of the program, right-click it, select the "Compatibility" tab in the pop-up dialog box, and select the corresponding running environment under "Compatibility Mode".
5, dual operating system, how to uninstall xp?
Start with the boot disk, then type "a:sys c:", restart from the hard disk, then delete boot.ini, bootsect.dos, ntdetect.com and NTLDR, and then directly delete Windows, program files, documents and settings of xp, or format the hard disk of winxp (if your xp and win98 are not in the same partition).
