Yangqu County, known as "the first city of Sanjin" in history, belongs to Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, and is located in the backbone of Xinzhou and Jinzhong basins. This is the gateway to Taiyuan. The east, west and north are surrounded by mountains, and the south is low. It borders Yuxian County in the east, Jingle County in the west, Gujiao City in the south, Xinzhou City in the north, Dingxiang County in the northeast and Shouyang County in the southeast.
There are 579 cultural relics protection units in Yangqu County (including 5 national, 4 provincial and 24 municipal). In 2007, Pingyao, Dunhuang, Dali and other places with profound historical and cultural heritage were selected as "66 cultural tourism counties that must be visited in China". 1948 In August, the People's Government of North China decided to establish Jinzhong Administrative Office. The democratic governments of Dongyangqu County and Xiyangqu County merged to form Yangqu County People's Government, which governs Xinzhuang Village, a high village in this county. 1948 In September, the Shanxi Provincial People's Government was established, and Yangqu County was changed to the New County Department.
1958, Yangqu County was transferred to Taiyuan City. Since then, the ownership of Yangqu County has not changed.
