Lapping method: the base of litchi scion is obliquely cut, and after going deep into xylem, the rootstock is also obliquely cut, and then the two are closely attached. Tongue grafting: the base of the scion is obliquely cut on the front, and the back is flattened, and then it is close to the rootstock to form a cambium. Grafting time: litchi can be grafted in March-May in spring or August-September in autumn.

Litchi 1 How to Graft and Overlap

When grafting litchi by overlapping method, the base of scion should be obliquely cut at an angle of 30 degrees and go deep into xylem, and the incision size should be kept at 65438±0.5cm. Then cut the same incision on the rootstock, closely attach the scion to the rootstock, and then tie it tightly with plastic film.

2. Tongue connection

Grafting litchi can be grafted with tongue. First, a 0.7 cm incision was obliquely cut on the front of the base of the scion, and then flattened from the back to expose the xylem. Then cut a 1cm cut from the top of the rootstock, and level the lower end. Finally, the cambium of scion and rootstock is tightly inserted and bound with film.

3. Grafting time

Litchi is suitable for grafting in spring and autumn every year. The grafting time in spring is from March to May every year, and April is the most suitable. The grafting time in autumn is from August to September every year. Grafting should be done in the morning and evening on cloudy or sunny days, not at noon, so as to avoid excessive evaporation of water.
