The operation methods of moxa stick moxibustion are generally divided into hanging moxibustion and pressing moxibustion.
① Hanging moxibustion. Hang the moxa stick at a certain height from the acupuncture point to smoke, and don't let the lighted end of the moxa stick directly touch the skin. Include mild moxibustion, rotary moxibustion and bird pecking moxibustion. Mild moxibustion is to fumigate the lighted moxa stick at a height of about 1.5 ~ 3 cm from the acupoint, so that the local area has a warm feeling without burning pain. Generally, moxibustion lasts for 3 to 5 minutes until the skin turns slightly red. Rotating moxibustion is also called ironing moxibustion. Put the lighted moxa stick near the moxibustion place to balance the reciprocating rotation fumigation moxibustion (about 3 cm away from the skin), which can generally be moxibustion for 20 ~ 30 minutes. Bird pecking moxibustion is the burning end of the moxa stick, which is not fixed at a certain distance from the moxibustion site, but moves up and down like a bird pecking, usually lasting about 5 minutes.
② true moxibustion. Namely Taiyi needle and thunder fire needle. Taiyi acupuncture is to use pure and soft moxa 150g, spread it on 40cm square mulberry paper, mix 24g of prepared medicinal powder into moxa, tightly roll it into the shape of firecrackers, light one end, wrap it with several layers of cloth (usually 7 layers), and then immediately press it on the acupoint or affected part for moxibustion and ironing. When moxibustion is cold, it is rekindled and ironed, which can be repeated 7 ~ 10 times. The preparation method, function and operation method of thunder fire needle are basically the same as those of Taiyi needle, but the difference is the formula.
