How to back up the whole C drive with GOST? How are the steps? I am a novice, please forgive me ~ thank you! ! !
Here comes the brush.

1, copy between hard disks:

Some friends may encounter this situation, for example, there are two hard disks with the same capacity, one of which has an operating system that can run normally and the other is empty, so you don't need to install WIN98 on the second hard disk, just use GHOST to complete this work in a very short time.

First, install two hard disks on the same machine, set the master-slave state, and run GHOST in DOS state (sometimes GHOST can also run under WIN98, but in order to prevent it from happening, it is recommended that you run GHOST in DOS environment), then select LOCAL, DISK and TO DISK, and then GHOST will display the situation that there are two disks, and then click the first disk (original disk) and confirm according to the GHOST prompt. There will be a blue progress bar at the top of the screen to show the progress status. General data of about 1G can be completed in about 10 minutes.

When operating this function, be careful not to make mistakes when selecting the original disk and the target disk. If you choose reverse disk, you will only get two empty disks after copying.

For two hard disks with different capacities, this method can only be used to copy from a small hard disk to a large hard disk, and vice versa. After copying the large hard disk, you can also find the remaining space through the partition software (because GHOST regards the remaining space as free).

For hard disks with bad tracks, the system will become unstable after this copying operation, so pay attention to it.

2. From hard disk to image:

Some friends may have idle hard disks, and you can use them to back up the data of the hard disk you are using. In this way, you can use this function.

Install two hard disks on one machine, run GHOST, and select local, disk and mirror. At this time, GHOST will display the situation of two disks, then select the hard disk to be backed up, and then select the location where the image file is placed (often in a directory of the second hard disk, the directory should be established in advance! Then enter a name, such as DISKIMG, in the prompt bar at the bottom of the screen, and then press enter, and you can make a backup. There is also a progress bar to demonstrate the progress.

3. From image to hard disk:

After the last backup step, your hard disk may break down one day. Never mind, there is a ghost! Take out the backed-up hard DISK, install it on the same machine, start it with the system disk (floppy disk is also acceptable), run GHOST, then select LOCAL, disk, FROM IMAGE, and then select the storage location of your backed-up image file, DISKIMG in the above example, and then specify which hard disk to restore to. After confirmation, the recovery tool begins. This huge system will be completed in ten minutes. Is it convenient?

4, from partition to partition:

You may have this requirement, two different hard disks, just want to have the same system and tool software, but other partitions are different. This kind of work can also be done through GHOST.

First of all, install two hard disks on the same machine (it seems meaningless to copy partitions on the same hard disk! ), ghost. Select Local, Partition and Partition. Then select the original partition (because two hard disks are installed, there may be many partitions, so be sure to find out whether the partition arrangement order of your two hard disks is staggered or sequential, so as not to be confused), and then select the target partition (the first partition of the second hard disk) after confirmation. After confirmation, GHOST starts to work, and the progress bar can display the progress of the progress. When you're done, you'll have two hard disks to boot.

Because it is a partition copy, it is required that the partition size of the two hard disk copies must be the same. If they are not the same, other partitions of the target disk will be deleted! Please pay attention.

5, from partition to mirror:

This function can be said to be the function we are most likely to use. That is, the operation of backing up the operating system WIN98. Nowadays, friends' hard disks are relatively large! In this way, there will be multiple partitions, and because of habitual reasons, drive C often installs WIN98 system and some commonly used tools! For WIN98, which is already fragile, it is very important to back up the whole system. So this function does not need a second hard disk, just put the image in another partition.

Execute GHOST, and the main interface of GHOST will appear on the screen. Select local, partition, and image, and then select hard disk and partition. After confirmation, enter a backup name, such as WIN98BAK, and then press Enter. At this time, the screen will prompt three options, namely whether, fast and high. These three meanings mean: no, the backup is not compressed, so it is the fastest and faster; the backup is compressed to a certain extent, and the speed is faster. High: It was compressed during backup. After compression, the volume is small, but the speed is slow. These three options can be selected according to your own hobbies. After the final confirmation, GHOST started the backup work.

6. Restore partition from mirror:

If your WIN98 is broken, messed up and the file is wrong, you don't need to reinstall WIN98, as long as you have GHOST, everything will be fine.

Run GHOST, select local, partition and slave images, and select the storage location of backup files (GHOST has the extension of GHO). Then choose the partition to restore (this is often the first partition of your hard disk! ) After confirmation, GHOST began to return to work, as simple as that. In just a few minutes, your system will be restored.

Because GHOST backup uses the original system, it is recommended that you ensure the integrity of the system and all the software used before backup, clean up the recycle bin, install the drivers of each device, and then back up. In addition, before restoring the backup, don't forget to back up your recent important data, because these are not included in the mirror image of GHOST.

6, check function:

GHOST also has a check function, which can check whether your image files and disks are in good working condition. These functions are not used in many occasions, so Lao An will not introduce them much.

7.LPT transmission function:

GHOST can also support the data transmission function of LPT parallel port, and it is easy to connect laptop and desktop computer for data exchange through parallel port cable! Because of the limited conditions, Lao An has no experience in using this function, and the mystery is still waiting for you to explore!

Use Ghost to back up the primary partition.

Next, the author will introduce the process of making the image file in detail: first, start the machine to pure DOS mode with a clean startup disk, and execute the Ghost.exe file without loading any application programs. After the Ghost main screen is displayed, select Local → Partition → Mirror, and the hard disk selection screen and partition selection screen will be displayed. Please select the hard disk to be backed up, that is, the source disk (if only one hard disk can enter) and the partition name, and then the mirror file storage screen will be displayed. You can select the corresponding target disk and file name. The default extension is GHO and the attribute is implied. Next, you can choose one of No (no compression), Fast (low compression ratio, faster speed) and High (high compression ratio, slower speed) in the dialog box for compressing image files, depending on your own machine configuration. After selecting Yes in the final confirmation dialog box, an image file will be generated. The author used about 1.2G for disk C, and only used 65433.

Fourth, the recovery of the main partition.

After making the above image file, you can safely try out all kinds of software, modify all kinds of parameters of Windows98, and recover quickly in case of a crash. You can still enter the main interface of Ghost according to the above method, select Local → Partition → Slave Mirror, and select the source disk (that is, the partition where the mirror file is stored, such as D:, E:, etc. ) and image files, and select the target disk (c:) in the next dialog box. Be sure to choose the right one here, because once the error is determined, all the data will be overwritten, and finally choose "Yes". The restoration work began. You just need to make a cup of tea and wait patiently for it to be finished. Usually, the recovery time is equivalent to the backup time. After the recovery work, the software will remind you to restart, and everything is normal at this time.

As the saying goes, "sharpening a knife doesn't mistake a woodcutter." Who can guarantee that his computer won't go wrong? Of course, you can find the fault through various methods and use various solutions to restore normal after the problem occurs, but you will spend dozens of times as much time and energy as the above methods, and sometimes it may not work. However, I would like to remind you that it is best not to put important files and private files on the main partition (because all the original contents will be completely overwritten after each image file is restored), and it is also best to re-create the image file after the software and hardware are newly installed, otherwise some inexplicable errors may occur after the restoration.
