The Statue of Liberty, located on Liberty Island in new york Harbor, USA, is a huge classical statue designed by Friedrich August Butler Di and built by Gustav Eiffel. It was completed on June 28th, 1886+05438, and it was a gift from the French people to the American people.
1865 Edouard René de la Delavau, a French law professor and politician, suggested that the French and Americans make American independence souvenirs together. His idea may be to commemorate the victory of the northern army in the civil war and the end of slavery.
After the attack in September, 200011,the statue was closed again for safety and security reasons, and its base was reopened in 2004, but the statue will not be opened until 2009, so the number of tourists who can climb to the top is limited.
The whole statue, including the pedestal and foundation, was closed for another year until 20 12128 October, for the purpose of installing auxiliary stairs and other safety guarantees. Liberty Island is still open during this period.
However, the day after the statue was reopened, Freedom Island was closed due to the influence of Hurricane Sandy and reopened on July 4, 20 13. For safety reasons, the balcony around the torch is closed to the public from 20 16.
