Every year on the third day of the third lunar month, it is the "ploughing festival" of Paiyao, also known as the "walking festival", which means the beginning of spring ploughing in a year. On this day, just before dawn, Yao Lao blew his horn on the top of the village to wake up all the families to cook, while the husbands (teachers) in the village gathered in front of the land temple to kill chickens, barbecue, burn paper money, recite the Yao scriptures, worship the land gods and ancestors, and pray for good weather, abundant crops and prosperity of six livestock. The sacrificial ceremony was very grand. Several gentlemen knocked on bronze bells and gongs, sang Yao Jing and danced. From time to time, they also fired iron cannons and spread seeds such as corn, rice and yellow rice in all directions. Some Yaozhai also selected three strong young people to play black-faced men (wearing a wide-brimmed hat with cowhide, wearing a thick cotton vest soaked in tung oil, and painting their faces with black and gray mixed oil at the bottom of the pot), yellow-faced men (painting some yellow pigments on their faces) and white-faced men (painting some white pigments on their faces). The three men kept running in the fields and cottages, and people chased them with sticks, knives and guns. After the sacrificial ceremony, the leader Gong (Yao Lao) fired six iron cannons at the intersection of Caotang. When the Yao people smelled the gunfire, they went out with farm tools and gathered at the hut intersection. The leader stood on a high place, preaching village rules and regulations to everyone, persuading everyone to work hard, take care of pigs and cows, and not damage crops. After the leader fired six rounds of iron cannon again, the Yao people rushed to the fields and Shan Ye to start farming in the new year.

At night, the cottage was full of joy. Everyone killed chickens and cooked pork and tofu, worshipped ancestors and entertained relatives and friends. If you choose to hold a "Singing Hall" or a "Singing Hall" in one year, on this day, all the people in the platoon will go to Wang Pan Temple to burn incense and make a wish to worship their ancestors, so this festival is also called "Heavenly Sacrifice".

According to legend, the custom of throwing tofu in Shegangxia Village originated in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, when the local tofu was abundant. On the thirteenth day of the first month, some villagers accidentally spilled tofu on the ground, which attracted many swallows to peck at it, and then built nests to breed, which brought a bumper harvest to the crops of that year. The villagers think that swallows have brought them a bumper harvest, so they throw tofu on the eaves of tiles for swallows to peck at, which is kept as a custom. Later, it gradually evolved into people throwing tofu at each other, praying for good weather, good harvests, good health and a rich life in the new year.

On the day of the festival, with the roar of drums and firecrackers, there are four or five hundred villagers in Shegangxia village who build nests. People catch tofu for fun, and then tofu flies among revelers like snowflakes, hitting people's celebrating faces and bodies. Especially for young people, the scenes of chasing and fighting and carnival are integrated with the simple and rough local folk customs, which is as lively as the carnival in the west and the tomato festival in South America. After a while of throwing and wiping, the villagers, men, women and children, turned into big faces, unable to tell who was a boy and who was a girl, with smiles on their faces.

Liannan Yao's bonfire party originated from talking songs by the bonfire under the moon in Liannan Yao, and has continued to this day. It is a program with ethnic customs, songs and dances and strong participation of tourists. Here, you can dance hand in hand with the hospitable Yao boy "Agui" and Yao sister "Sha Yaomei" and have a good time drinking Yao wine.

After the dance, they went to a wider floor and gave a special performance for the crowd. During the performance, an Eight Immortals stage was placed in the center of the venue.
