Matters needing attention in the cultivation and management of spring flowers
A year's plan lies in spring, which is the initial season for flowers and plants to germinate and grow. However, the temperature in spring is extremely unstable, so potted flowers should be left out before and after Qingming Festival, and some must be behind Grain Rain, such as white orchids, jasmine, Milan and so on. And some must grow in summer before the arrival of Grain Rain, such as cactus, cactus, fairy mountain and lotus.

This paper introduces the matters needing attention and management of spring flowers from five aspects.

1, to prevent cold wind blowing.

In early spring, ventilation should be chosen around noon on sunny days, and special attention should be paid to prevent cold air from blowing potted flowers directly.

Open the window from less to more times, from short to long, and gradually exercise the flower adaptation.

2. Prevent sudden climate change

The climate in spring is changeable, and the cold current often attacks, which will cause the weather to be cold. Some subtropical flowers, such as jasmine and white orchid, should not leave the room too early. Potted flowers can't leave the house until the temperature is stable at 10- 15℃. After leaving the room, it should also be placed in a leeward and sunny place, and it is necessary to move indoors in time in case of bad weather.

3, prevent watering too much

Potted flowers in spring need a certain amount of water, but it is necessary to avoid watering too much, otherwise it will easily lead to long branches and leaves and affect flowering.

With the warming of the weather and the growth of flowers and trees, the frequency and quantity of watering should be gradually increased.

When you encounter dry weather in spring, you should pay attention to spraying water on the leaves frequently.

Loosen the soil in time after each watering to make the basin soil well ventilated.

4. Key points of fertilization

Early spring flower fertilization should master the following six points:

(1) potted flowers are weak after overwintering, so it is appropriate to apply fully decomposed dilute liquid fertilizer every 10~ 15 days.

(2) Do not water the pot soil for 1~2 days before fertilization, and let the pot soil dry slightly to facilitate the absorption of fertilizer solution.

(3) Before fertilization, loosen the soil to facilitate the infiltration of fertilizer solution.

(4) Fertilizer solution should be applied along the basin to avoid polluting branches and leaves and root neck, otherwise it will easily cause fertilizer damage.

(5) The next morning after fertilization, water should be poured once, and the soil should be loosened in time to make the basin soil well ventilated, which is beneficial to root system development.

(6) Fertilization should be suspended for seedlings that have just emerged, or diseased plants whose roots have not recovered and their roots are poorly developed.

5, timely breeding

General flowers are suitable for spring sowing, branching, cutting, layering and grafting.

For most potted flowers, robust branches or stems (such as hibiscus, rose, jasmine, plum blossom, pomegranate, hydrangea, chrysanthemum, upside-down golden bell, trollius chinensis, fig, tortoise shell, hibiscus mutabilis, dragon's spit bead, five-colored plum, cherry blossom, winter jasmine, hibiscus mutabilis, begonia, clove, lingxiao, etc.) can be cut off in early spring.

Some flowers, such as Chimonanthus praecox, Peach Blossom, Begonia Xifu, Osmanthus fragrans, Rose and Magnolia grandiflora, can be propagated by grafting.

Generally, grafting should be carried out before the sap begins to flow and germinate in early spring.

In addition, for some flowers and trees with soft branches, such as oleander, osmanthus, hydrangea, nandina, etc. , can be propagated by layering method; For some flowers and trees whose branches are not easy to bend, such as Prynne, Michelia, Camellia, Rhododendron, Magnolia and so on. High-branch layering method can be used for reproduction.
