Liu, a descendant of Tucheng, one of the "eight schools" in Tianjin, was influenced by his father's famous painter since childhood and loved painting. 1936( 16 years old) entered the Western Painting Department of Tianjin Art Museum, systematically studied sketch, sketch, watercolor and oil painting, studied landscape painting techniques from Liu Zijiu, and studied landscape painting and figure painting from Chen Shaomei and Liu Feng. Self-employed the following year and began to sell paintings. 1947 held a solo exhibition at Tianjin Yong 'an Hotel. After 1949, he went to work in People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Art Bureau of the Ministry of Culture;
1950 transferred to People's Fine Arts Publishing House as a creative worker;
1957 Visiting Czechoslovakia with a delegation of artists from China.
