One of the dance styles. It means to perform solo, so it can also be called "solo dance". There are the following categories:

① 1942 Wu Xiaobang, an older dancer, created and performed dance works with complete structures and their own chapters, such as Hungry Fire, Painted Sculptures in Dunhuang and Waves; Among the classical dances in China, dancer Huang Doudou's Soul of the Qin Warrior, Ada's Moon in the Water, Wu Weifeng's Begonia, classical ballet Death of Swan, modern dance Marseillaise, Indian folk dance Ball Dance and so on. They have independent theme, content and artistic conception, short and pithy, vivid images, strong artistic appeal and high aesthetic value.

(2) The paragraphs of solo dance in group dance are an important means for ballet to shape characters and express inner feelings, such as ying niang playing the pipa solo in China's ballet Rain on Silk Road and Aogueta solo in the second act of the classical ballet Swan Lake. Its purpose is to further portray the main characters in the dance and promote the development of climax, such as the solo dance of the squad leader in the dance "Flying over Luding Bridge" and the solo dance of the small and medium-sized soldiers in the "Warhorse Screams". This solo dance is often just a dance or ballet in content, and is often accompanied by group dance in form. Sometimes this solo dance is not performed alone on the stage, but refers to a relatively complete performance of a role, which is different from other actors (that is, it does not need to be neat-).

Variations of classical ballet. From the perspective of appreciation, classical ballet often arranges solo dances of roles such as hero and heroine to show the skill level of actors, which has high appreciation value. Solo dance should be profound in artistic conception, concise in structure, and combine rich emotions, vivid dances and superb skills to create a perfect and moving dance form. That is, after the duet, there are dance fragments performed by men and women independently. This is mainly used to show the actor's superb turning and jumping skills. Therefore, the requirements for soloists are particularly strict. Soloists should have good physical quality, skilled technical skills, superb performance ability and comprehensive artistic accomplishment.
