Yushu city belongs to Jilin Province, located in the north-central part of Jilin Province. It is one of the largest county-level cities in Jilin Province and the most populous county-level city in Jilin Province. The whole city covers an area of 4,722 square kilometers, governing 4 streets, 15 towns, 9 townships and 1 ethnic townships.

Yushu is rich in agricultural resources, located in the world-famous golden corn belt, rich in corn, soybeans, rice and sorghum, and is known as "the hometown of grain and beans" and "the first warehouse in Songliao Plain". Yushu city has been designated as the pioneer base of national agricultural products processing industry and the national ecological demonstration zone by the state, and won the title of "Top Small and Medium-sized Cities with Most Investment Potential in China 100" for four consecutive years.
