Three-brain theory, as its name implies, is three kinds of brains, instinctive brain, emotional brain and visual brain. Now human beings are unified and coexist to guide everyone's thoughts and actions.
Instinctive brain (amygdala), also known as reptile brain, is 1 100 million years old, mainly considering safety.
In the face of threats, people will seize the control of the body and form reactions before consciousness, such as fighting, running and being stiff. This kind of direct and rapid reaction is helpful to the inheritance of human genes, but it also hinders our rational thinking, so that people will feel embarrassed and ashamed when they think about it afterwards.
The instinctive brain can only focus on the present, which is also the default mode of 24-hour non-stop. It can always react quickly, whether it is safe or dangerous now.
Emotional brain (limbic system), also known as breast-feeding brain, has developed for 50 million years, and has been in smooth cooperation with instinctive brain for a long time.
Think of the collective first, dislike change the least, and analyze things first when encountering them. Is it a threat to the collective (family)? As usual, if it is not a threat, it will produce emotions.
Emotional brain is sensitive to pronunciation and intonation, and the brain development of many advanced animals, such as cats and dogs, is similar to that of humans. For example, cats and dogs use different sounds and intonations to feedback their needs, and usually their owners can accurately distinguish them. If people can understand and make use of this, they can always be alert to whether the cooperation between emotional brain and instinctive brain has robbed us of the initiative.
For example, when quarreling, the content of the quarrel itself is not as lethal as the tone of speech. In many intimate relationships, the reason why we quarrel is not clear, but the attitude and tone of the other party's communication do bring the most direct harm to the feelings.
Different from the instinctive brain, the emotional brain is always on, but it is triggered immediately, and because it skillfully cooperates with the instinctive brain, it can quickly realize the emotion and take action in the reaction process of encountering things. The essence of the emotional brain will pay attention to the relationship, but it will also pay attention to the present and the past. For example, if something happens, it will cause emotions and feelings of similar things before, but the judgment of the emotional brain is black and white. It likes to be clear when judging whether something is right or wrong, friend or enemy.
Visual brain (cerebral cortex), also known as rational brain, works for only 3 million years. The visual brain occupies two-thirds of the whole brain capacity, divided into two hemispheres, with 16 trillion neurons (more than the number of visible stars in the universe). As the name implies, the visual brain is good at visualization and can immediately reach the imaginary pictures and scenes. But it can't distinguish the negative word "no". For example, when I say "Don't think about that pink elephant", when you hear or see this sentence, you can't help thinking of "pink elephant". Knowing this, we can think more about "what we want" than "what we don't want", which is meaningful to us.
For example, I hope I won't be hit by a car, so a series of fragments or three-dimensional scenes of being hit by a car will appear in my mind, which will make me more nervous and afraid when crossing the road. If I change it to "I want to obey the traffic rules and look around to cross the road safely", it will be really meaningful for us to avoid being hit by a car. So, if you think more about what you want, the path to get the scene and how to realize it will appear in your mind, and then it will really be realized. This is the essence of the law of attraction.
Visual brain is lazy and easily interfered or hindered by instinctive brain and emotional brain. After we understand it, we can realize it more clearly, and use the independent functions of various brains to help us make more appropriate judgments and actions. Personally, I think this is also the pursuit of all scientific and technological progress, that is, "use it after knowing it."
Write it at the end,
I've always liked the three-brain theory. I know, maybe I didn't know enough and didn't make good use of it, but I benefited a lot from it.
I once talked with my daughter in a language that children can understand. What I can see is that when she said angrily, "I will never play with him again, he is a bad boy", I asked her, "What brain is controlling you now?" She will be conscious and even look back at herself immediately. Even if sometimes she goes on to say, "Well, I'm an instinctive brain and I'm going to hit him," I'm glad she knows where she is. You are not yourself, you know what you are, and you are yourself, aren't you?
