Why can't Japanese oranges be eaten?
Japanese oranges are edible.

Citrus Pingkan originated in Japan, and it is a new citrus variety which is a hybrid of Xizhixiang and Ponkan. 20 10 was introduced to China. Ganping, Japan, a big-fruit citrus, 1 ripens from March to March, and belongs to a late-maturing citrus variety. Ganping's pulp is very textured, with strong citrus flavor, full pulp, thin skin, tender and smooth taste, high sugar and low acid, belonging to high-grade citrus varieties.

The fruit is flat and big, with a single fruit weight of 240g, a transverse diameter of 8.8cm, a longitudinal diameter of 5.7cm and a fruit shape index of 0.64. The peel is orange-red, thin, only 0.20cm thick, with few white skins, smooth surface, mixed oil cells and dense protrusions. There are 6-8 shorter radial sulcus petals on the fruit stalk. By the beginning of 65438+ 10, the sugar content reached 15 degrees. Young and early trees with high exchange rate have vigorous spring shoots and summer shoots, strong uprightness, few branches and long branches. Therefore, the fruit setting rate of leafy inflorescence branches which are not easy to form strong flower buds is the highest, while that of leafy single flower branches is lower, and that of horizontal branches and weak branches is lower.

Variety defect

Although Ganping citrus is positioned at the high end and has excellent quality, this variety itself has many shortcomings:

The fruit cracking is serious, and the sweet peel is thin, which is its advantage, but it is also its disadvantage. Ganping's thin skin is particularly prone to cracking, which is the biggest variety defect of Ganping.

Poor cold tolerance. The maturity of Ganping citrus is in the middle of1-February, and the temperature is low during the wintering period. If it is not protected cultivation, low temperature will lead to poor coloring, insufficient sugar accumulation and inability to reduce acidity.

Obviously, Ganping was put into production after three years of planting, with a yield of 3-5 kg per plant, and then entered the high-yield period year by year. The highest yield per mu is about 8000 Jin, but the high yield has a great burden on the tree, and the flowering and fruit setting are poor in the second year.

If the fruit is too large, it is easy to cause the sweet fruit to be too large, and it is easy to form floating fruit, and there is no data to show whether the fruit size is related to fruit cracking, so it is difficult to judge whether the fruit size is appropriate by artificial means.
