The Virgin in the sky, also known as Tian Fei, Tianhou, etc. , is a courtesy title for Mazu among folk Mazu believers. Mazu, a native of Putian County, Xinghua District, Fujian Province, was born in the first year of Stegosaurus in Song Taizu (AD 960) on March 23rd of the Gengshen lunar calendar. The house was full of strange smells, but after a few months, I didn't smell crying, so I named it "Mo Niang". From the fifth year of Song Zongwei's announcement of peace to the reign of Tongzhi, Tianhou was praised by emperors of past dynasties, with titles ranging from "Lady", "Princess", "Tian Fei" and "Tianhou" to "Virgin of Heaven". There is a TV series of the same name "Madonna Mazu in the Sky", starring Chen Yalan, which tells the story of Mazu's arrest of King Jinghe who disobeyed heaven.
