There is a friend on the author's business card who is losing weight. Recently, every time I have dinner with her, I will hear the same question, "Do you have coke zero?"

Can coke zero save friends who lose weight? For friends who like to drink drinks and want to lose weight, choosing sugar-free drinks is a good start. A diet drink like Coke Zero, which uses artificial sweeteners instead of refined sugar, does sound like a solution to the contradiction between people's love for sweetness and their fear of obesity. However, my friends may not like what I have to say recently. A new study shows that bubbles in carbonated drinks may make people fat, whether they contain sugar or not. ...

What? ! It's impossible to prevent! The study was conducted by a team from the Department of Biology and Biochemistry of Beards University in the West Bank. The researchers tried to explore "the promoting effect of carbonated drinks on the secretion of growth hormone releasing peptide". Growth hormone releasing peptide (Ghrelin) sounds awkward, and its other name is more straightforward, called "ghrelin". This is a hormone mainly secreted by the gastrointestinal tract, which is related to hunger and can stimulate appetite. In the first phase of the research in Beards University, the researchers selected four groups of mice for experiments. For more than a year, give each group different types of drinks. Some rats in the four groups drank tap water (tap water group), some drank ordinary carbonated drinks (ordinary group), some drank sugar-free carbonated drinks (sugar-free group), and the other group drank a carbonated drink without bubbles (bubble-free group). During this period, the researchers closely monitored the fluctuation of auxin in diet and blood of rats.

Have some more, I can still drink ~ ~

The experimental results showed that although all the mice drank carbonated drinks, the weight gain of normal group and sugar-free group was greater than that of mice without bubbles. Rats in normal group and sugar-free group also ate more than rats in bubble-free group and tap water group. Therefore, the researchers analyzed the contents of brain-gut peptide in four groups of rats, and found that the brain-gut peptide secreted by normal group and sugar-free group was significantly higher than that of bubble-free group and tap water group.

Do human subjects still confess? I love to drink ~ The results of the mouse experiment are not over yet, and the researchers continue to extend the experiment to human subjects (it is safer to drink drinks). They recruited 20 male students and conducted the experiment in two days. Ask the students to eat the same breakfast every time, and then give everyone 330 ml of drinks 1 hour after breakfast. On the first day, the students all drank water; On the other day, each group drank different drinks-besides ordinary carbonated drinks, sugar-free carbonated drinks and carbonated drinks with bubbles removed, soda water was added this time (soda water here is soda water with carbon dioxide, not water with baking soda and sodium hydroxide). In these two experiments, students draw blood after drinking water for five minutes to detect the level of brain-gut peptide and compare it. And the result? Compared with drinking tap water, the ghrelin level of students in carbonic acid group increased 6 times! Even if you drink carbonated drinks, it makes no difference whether there are bubbles or not. The level of brain-gut peptide in the group with sparkling carbonic acid was three times higher than that in the group without sparkling carbonic acid, even though they only drank soda water. That is to say, if you only look at the level of ghrelin and drink carbonated drinks such as soda water, it is better to drink sugary drinks without bubbles ... (Of course, this is only the level of ghrelin, which does not mean that drinking sugary drinks without bubbles will not make you fat, so don't get me wrong. Professor Johnny Stubban of Beards University said, "Our experimental results show that carbon dioxide in soft drinks plays an important role in inducing male mammals to gain weight and lead to obesity by promoting the secretion of auxin and stimulating hunger response."
