Pruning method of osmanthus fragrans
Not pruning: slow release, suitable for the early stage of young osmanthus modeling. It mainly includes slight twisting and pulling branches. The former artificially softens the shoots in the early stage of growth to change the growth direction and adjust the position. Branching is to control the growth direction of thick annual branches by using iron wires and nailing stakes on the ground.
Small pruning
The first method is to remove the tender branches with 3 or 4 leaflets at the top of the branches, so as to promote multi-branching, which is suitable for growing vegetative branches. Be sure to pinch the branches. If you only pinch the leaves, it will be invalid. Secondly, short cutting is the work of branches that grow for one year. Retaining more than half of the branches after pruning can promote the growth of buds on the upper branches and promote multi-branching. Then pruning is to keep less than half of the annual branches. After pruning, the dormant buds at the lower part of the branch can be activated, and it is likely to form new long branches or open branches in the future. Finally, the recovery work is aimed at a long branch that has been over two years. Cut off the part that grew last year, change the branch group, promote multi-branching, effectively control the flowering position, and no longer extend it year by year.
Heavy pruning
This method is suitable for the regeneration of old osmanthus trees. After the first two kinds of pruning, the whole tree will not be greatly affected, but a large pruning is likely to change the original tree beyond recognition. Can also be combined with grafting.
