Coach ·CSGO G2: Nico didn't kill Kenneth voluntarily, which was not planned.
Recently, G2 coach Malik was invited to participate in the HLTV confirmation plan, focusing on the whole story of the team signing Nico, the position adjustment and the future of Kenneth. The following is an interview excerpt:

Q: After signing the Balkan Twin Hunters and nexa, have you thought about the possibility of signing Niko in the future?

Of course, I think that if we can sign Niko, it will undoubtedly improve the strength of the team, and with the relationship between Hunter and Niko, whether in G2 or other teams in the future, their desire to be together is extremely strong.

Q: Can you elaborate on the process of signing Niko?

In fact, I had doubts before I signed Niko, and the main doubt was after I put aside Niko's star aura.

I don't know where he could hit in G2 at that time. Besides, we know that Niko and huNter will fight side by side one day. Is it possible for them to realize their dreams in G2? On the other hand, if we fail to sign Niko in the end, we may lose huNter or nexa. So with these questions, we evaluated all levels and possibilities. In the end, G2 signed Niko. Although it takes a lot of efforts to rebuild the tactical system, design the tactical position for Niko and reorganize the team, the team may have to adapt for a while and the result will not be very good, but we are still very happy to get this contract.

Q: When Niko came to G2, one of AmaNEk and JackZ needed to make room for Niko. Why did you choose AmaNEk instead of JackZ in the first place?

Yes, we had a long discussion about it. As I said, these two players played an important role in my tactical system. They are indispensable players in G2, whether in games or in life. Niko's joining forced me to make a choice. It was very difficult, just like breaking my arm. I know the pain.

Q: You just mentioned the chemical reaction between cousins. How did you carry it out?

In fact, there is not much work done in the middle. As I said, they are born with the will to fight side by side, and they also have the will to play well subjectively, so for me, I don't need to take the initiative to tell them what to do. They will adjust to each other and give full play to their strongest fighting capacity.

Q: When Kenneth was sent down, you also mentioned that Nico would be promoted to the position of sniper. Do you think it is necessary to emphasize this point in the statement from the perspective of development?

Yes, I think G2' s statement at that time was really thoughtless and did not give comprehensive information, which led readers and fans to have some one-sided understanding of the whole incident. In fact, we just want the players in the team to try to play AWP and see who is the best person to fill this vacancy. At the same time, we obviously underestimated Niko's star effect. After he fought with snipers several times, people have been obsessed with his performance, which we didn't expect. But we are not depressed by this. In fact, after adjustment, Amanek has done quite well in the position of sniper, which is very suitable for our current rhythm.

Q: I remember that as soon as the news came out that Niko was going to be a G2 sniper, many people were talking about s 1mple. ZywOo, the two best players in the world, is the main sniper in the team. Is that why Nico wants to be a sniper?

No, he didn't ask for it himself. On the contrary, he has been trying to integrate into the team. The discussion about the location of snipers was first started between Hunter and me. From the perspective of team development, we decide who is the most qualified player in this position. On this topic, of course, we can't ignore the existence of Niko. He is a huge investment in the club, so it is not bad to try him in this position.

What finally convinced me to let Niko take this position was his performance in FaZe. I have seen some of his demonstrations in the FaZe competition. His position, consciousness and communication skills made me think that he was the best candidate to be a sniper in the team at that time.

Q: Let's talk about the decentralization of Kenneth. When you decide to let this star player leave the lineup, do you think it will be permanently released or will he still have a chance to go back and adjust his return?

Kenneth's contract with G2 has never been interrupted, and he worked very hard in personal training last month. We can see that his condition is also recovering. Maybe if we wait a little longer, he will be able to return to his former state. But unfortunately, when we made the decision to decentralize, we already figured it out, and there was no place for him in the next plan. We need to adjust the lineup, G2 needs a new mental outlook, and the team needs to turn over a new chapter.

Q: Let's talk about the future of this team. There is no doubt that your next most important goal is Major PGL. What do you think the team needs to improve most at present?

The major you mentioned is actually one of the incentives that force us to make adjustments, because everyone wants to appear in the best state in this major. Regarding your question, I think G2 has made great progress on the defensive end recently. I believe you can also see from the game that the offensive end is slightly inferior, which is what we need to improve. Besides, I also want to praise AmaNEk. He can know the location of the sniper so thoroughly in such a short time. I want to call him a talented player.
