How to care for dairy sheep?
In goat milk production, we attach great importance to herd management. Goats are not only the basis of our business, but also a part of our family in many ways. We pay strict attention to the condition of each goat to ensure that they can grow up happily and healthily and provide us with high-quality goat milk.

Feeding:

The main component of dairy goat diet is 100% dehydrated alfalfa granules. This provides goats with the raw materials needed to produce goat milk. At the milk station, goats eat whole oats or whole wheat, which are locally grown and do not contain pesticides.

We don't feed goats any corn or soybeans because we don't want them to eat genetically modified corn or soybeans. Our goats provide insecticide-free hay and free choice of loose minerals.

Our goats are all fed whole wheat or barley, because as far as I know, modern dairy goats have to feed a small amount of food. Because they are selectively bred to be very prolific animals, they don't have enough calories to maintain their normal existence just by eating grass or finding food by themselves. They will put all their energy into milk production.

A genetically modified dairy goat will starve to death if it doesn't eat food. We have a series of goat genetic lines, because they have become too thin, so we must continue to feed extra feed. I want healthy goats so that they can produce healthy milk. On the other hand, cows can be put on the grass. But relative to their weight, they produce much less milk than sheep.

Repel insects

We carry out strict pest management on the pasture to reduce the burden on goats. But we will deworm them before they give birth and after the lambs are born. Only when the feces show serious bugs will they be monitored all year round. I don't use traditional Chinese medicine insect repellent. Most herbs contain absinthe, which will affect lactating ewes. So I don't want to feed my milk goat.

Mutton:

We make every effort to ensure that every product. For many years, we have pretreated colostrum and pasteurized milk. Since our goats are negative in CAE test every year, because they don't leave the farm, we decided to breast-feed them with their breast milk. If we don't have enough milk, we must add whole milk. Lambs will be prevented from coccidiosis before they are 6 months old.

Routine care:

All goats have to trim their hooves every month.

CAE and CL:

Our goats have been preventing CAE during their growth. We do CAE test on every goat every year. These tests have been negative for years. Now that we have a larger herd, we conduct random CAE tests on 5- 10 goats every year. Except for no injury, all goats have no abscess.
