"Visualization" is a compulsory course for Tibetan monks. When I was a child, I became a monk in Tibet for two years. I sat quietly and observed with Master every day, which benefited a lot. What are the benefits of visualization? If we regard visualization as spiritual cultivation, we can learn the skills of meditation, concentration, mindfulness and comprehensive view, and resolve the pain and troubles caused by various delusions and misconceptions. In short, it makes me feel that life is beautiful.

If you are not a Buddhist, can't you benefit from visualization? Of course not. Take western athletes as an example. Many weightlifters, swimmers, and track and field athletes who are well versed in this art have broken through the limits through pre-competition visualization and brought their potential into full play.

There is an interesting visualization experiment. The scholar asked the subjects to imagine lifting weights in their minds. As a result, the bearing capacity of his arm immediately increased by 13%, and the strength of his heart was so strong!

Visualization can change thinking and brain waves. Most people are often in a relatively tense beta wave. Although this wavelength can quickly respond to things around them, they spend all their energy on improvisation, and their bodies have no time to take care of repair and immunity. Scientists observe the brain waves of monks and find that they are very good at slowing down the brain to alpha waves or even theta waves. At this time, I am in a state of concentration and relaxation, and my head is not thinking about energy consumption. I have at least four thoughts per minute, or even less.

When the body is relaxed, it is similar to a prosperous time when the world is at peace. People live and work in peace and contentment, work hard and recuperate. The human body is in a state of high immunity, all immune cells can move, and the body's ability to regenerate and repair has reached its peak. Some people even call the powerful θ wave "Buddha brain wave".

Scientists have confirmed that people's thinking and physical immunity are interlinked. For example, when they are anxious, stress hormones will be released immediately, thus inhibiting the work of the immune system. If other external factors are added, people will get sick. All emotions, such as discouragement and boredom, seem invisible, but actually affect the activity of immune cells.

How to improve and restart the self-healing power from the heart? Practice visualization, concentrate your thoughts, and give play to cellular immunity and regeneration ability. Drawing on the wisdom of ancient Tibetan doctors, I suggest starting with "watching lights" and "watching water".

My own practice is to have a visual object first, usually a pharmacist Buddha. Visualization is not limited by religion, you can visualize any god that suits you; If you have no religious belief, think about the universe and make it your source of strength.

After deciding who to imagine, take a few slow deep breaths. The light of visualizing healing emanates from the source of your strength, enters your body, and helps you to get through qi and blood, lubricate joints and relax muscles. This kind of light can also purify the toxins in the body, just like the breath of the forest disappears instantly when the sun shines. You can practice visualizing light anytime and anywhere. After 3~5 minutes, you will feel meticulous, peaceful, comfortable and relaxed. If you like this way of relaxation, you can freely extend the viewing time according to your own wishes.

The visualization of water "water" is second only to light in Tibet. The image of the Tibetan pharmacist Buddha, holding a bowl of manna in his hand, is painted like water, symbolizing the treasure medicine that can cure all diseases. If you want to visualize water to improve your self-healing ability, I think manna is the best visualization tool.

Now, imagine that there is a universal potion that can cure diseases and purify the mind. It is called manna. Come out of the void and wash your illness from head to toe, and wash your whole body. If you have a fever and it is very hot, you can imagine that this nectar is cold; If you are afraid of cold, imagine that this nectar water is as warm as Beitou Hot Spring.

Manna cleans your blood vessels, takes away dirt, excess cholesterol, heavy metals and old toxins in the blood, and even cleans the smallest capillaries. Sweet dew flows through the affected area, bringing gentle comfort and arousing ripples in the brain and mind. All the troubles, sadness, resentment, unwillingness, and troubles gradually fade away with the ripples and finally disappear.

Just like the visualization of light, if there is a particularly uncomfortable part, you can visualize it several times and wash it several times until you feel comfortable and happy.

Visual posture "sitting on a plate" is my first choice. Lying flat in a quiet place with poor light also helps to relax. Western psychotherapists prefer this position. It doesn't matter if the external conditions don't allow it, just have a chair, or even stand and wait for the bus. It is a kind of strength to find the peace of the inner world in the secular noise.

If you practice visualization with your heart, then all adversity can be your help, unless you raise the white flag first and beat a retreat yourself.

Visualization can relax body and mind, make qi and blood run smoothly, and make self-healing power and immunity play a role in every organ and microvessel of the whole body, especially for sick people.

Some studies have pointed out that when people are anxious and nervous, the pain will be more obvious. If they can relax, the degree and time of pain will be reduced.

Engaged in aerobic exercise to a certain extent, the human body will release endorphins. After practicing meditation and visualization for a period of time, it can also increase the concentration of endorphins in the brain, relieve pain, relieve stress, eliminate tension and bring happiness and pleasure.
