As for whether the man died suddenly due to acupuncture, it is difficult to judge directly because he does not know the location and depth of acupuncture and whether the patient has heart disease. But without the qualification of acupuncture, it is beyond the scope of physical therapy and health care, and belongs to the medical category.
I have always been negative about going to the massage health center outside for acupuncture treatment. Some friends didn't object until they saw this. Come and listen to some stories I told.
First, the year before last, near the Spring Festival, my neighbor called me and asked me when I would go home to get together. I haven't seen him for a year. I want to talk to him. He told me that he would introduce me to a friend. I thought it was the local doctor who readily agreed, and I didn't know that this "peer" was not simple until we met. He and I started working on the construction site when we were young. Once we went for a massage, and felt that this business was easy and profitable, and the key was not difficult. I resigned from the construction site and went to the massage parlor as an apprentice for 2 months, and came out to open my own shop. Later, I found that acupuncture was much easier than massage, so I taught myself acupuncture "where it hurts." He wants me to teach him a few tricks this time. My advice to him is that you have broken the law. I feel "scared" only because his needle was pulled out from the last person and stuck in the next person. I'm afraid of his ignorance and fearlessness, and I'm also afraid of the patients he stabbed. Finally, it broke up in discord.
The second is a patient's family. One day, a patient's family told me that Dr. Li had acupuncture on my heel in a massage shop outside. I always thought he was a little different from you. He didn't ask me to take off my socks when he pricked the needle, but stabbed me directly through the socks. Did I ask him to sterilize it? He said to sterilize it and cook it in an electric cooker. And look at the computer before you tie it, and learn according to the above. I can only persuade this family not to go again. My family was embarrassed to say that I had a VIP and paid 300 yuan to tie me up 12 times. If I don't ask for money, I'll be blind.
Third, this is very serious. An old lady went to acupuncture treatment and didn't know what to treat. Results The "doctor" stabbed the acupoint on her back. After nearly 15 minutes, the old lady complained of chest tightness. After reading it, the "doctor" said that normal reaction doesn't matter. As a result, after taking the needle, the old lady suddenly fell to the ground without taking a few steps. Send it to the hospital for examination. It's hemopneumothorax. Similarly, this "doctor" is not qualified to practice medicine.
Telling you these stories is to tell you that acupuncture is different from massage, and its risk is much higher than massage. Moreover, acupuncture belongs to the medical field. Massage shops do not have such qualifications and must be implemented by professional acupuncturists. I don't rule out that some undocumented old Chinese medicine practitioners have high acupuncture skills and many patients maintain them.
But after all, it is a small probability event. Don't gamble with your health or even your life. Although it is not to say that there has been no medical accident in the hospital, the probability is extremely low. Even if there is an accident, there is a hospital responsible for treatment and compensation. Now in the physical therapy hall outside, the "doctor" who treated you and gave you acupuncture was probably by your side months ago.
Finally, guess why you should take the risk of acupuncture. Is the massage bad? The risk is small, and you will not practice medicine illegally.
Thank you for your invitation.
Scapulohumeral periarthritis, cervical spondylosis, lumbar disc herniation ... These diseases that are easy for young people now are more common among middle-aged and elderly people, so there are always many hospitals or clinics specializing in treating cervical spondylosis and scapulohumeral periarthritis. Da Wanjun also saw many health clinics and so-called Chinese medicine clinics opened on the street. But can we really trust them and go to see them? Da Wanjun's opinion is that don't believe it easily.
The acupuncture massage room was newly opened last year. The location is at the home of Dr. Tang who treated the man. The medical conditions are simple. Most importantly, this "Dr. Tang" has a certificate of physical therapy training for acupuncture technicians, but he does not have the qualification to practice medicine, which is illegal. This man in Yaodongbei village wanted to go to the acupuncture and massage room to cure scapulohumeral periarthritis, but this tragedy happened unexpectedly!
In Da Wanjun's view, although some private clinics and grass-roots hospitals are legally practicing medicine and have treatment experience, they should be cautious and it is best to go to regular big hospitals to see a doctor. If you go to a private Chinese medicine hospital or massage clinic, you must first see if they have a business license and a doctor's qualification certificate. You must not save trouble or spend money to see a doctor!
Judging from the limited "useful" information at present, the incident involves many aspects.
"scapulohumeral periarthritis, acupuncture and sudden death" are several key words of the incident.
Although there is no autopsy yet, the exact cause of death of the man is still uncertain.
However, based on general medical knowledge, there is no direct causal relationship between the man's death and acupuncture.
In other words, the man was not killed by acupuncture.
There is a simple reason. In order to "cure" scapulohumeral periarthritis, the man went to Dr. Tang's acupuncture and massage room for acupuncture treatment.
As we know, the so-called acupuncture now is not the classic acupuncture therapy along the meridian of traditional Chinese medicine, but mainly Ashi point acupuncture. This means that acupuncture treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis will be limited to "shoulder circumference".
In any case, when acupuncture is performed in this anatomical part, it is impossible to cause sudden death directly because of acupuncture.
It is speculated that the cause of death of this man is sudden cardiac death with high probability.
We know that sudden cardiac death accounts for 85~90% of all sudden deaths, and the direct cause is cardiac arrest.
Essentially, the heart is a charged mechanical pump. Under the guidance of bioelectric signals, the myocardium contracts and relaxes according to the program, and the blood is "injected" into the artery and supplied to the whole body.
The so-called cardiac arrest is due to the interruption or extreme disorder of the generation or conduction of cardiac electrical signals, which leads to the cardiac stop, or the inability to shoot blood because of the loss of rhythm.
The man is 57 years old and probably suffers from coronary heart disease.
According to statistics, the probability of patients with coronary heart disease dying from cardiac arrest/sudden cardiac death is as high as 50%. Many of them may not even have any history of heart attacks, or even have no history of symptoms similar to heart attacks. The first attack of heart disease is cardiac arrest/cardiac death.
Therefore, in a high probability, there is no direct causal relationship between the death of the man and acupuncture.
The media has reported similar incidents:
On 20 15, master Hou, a 50-year-old man, died suddenly during acupuncture in the "black clinic" because of cervical discomfort. After autopsy, the sudden onset of coronary heart disease caused cardiac arrest. (link/news detail _ forward _ 1523070)
Even if there is no direct causal relationship between the man's death and acupuncture, it does not prevent the identification of Dr. Tang's behavior involved in the case as illegal medical practice.
Because acupuncture treatment belongs to medical behavior, according to relevant laws and regulations, it can only be implemented by relevant professional practitioners in medical institutions approved by the state.
The "Dr. Tang" involved does not have a medical license, and his "acupuncture and massage room" is not a legal medical institution.
Therefore, "Dr. Tang" can't escape the criminal and civil punishment of "illegal medical practice causing death".
However, for society or the public, punishment alone is not enough.
Around this incident, there are two deeper problems worthy of our consideration.
Medical sexual behavior is a serious social behavior related to people's health and even life and death, which is coordinated and restricted by many laws and norms.
However, in order to promote traditional medicine, some policies issued by the state in recent years have torn a dangerous hole in this barrier, which is the "Chinese medicine health care service" advocated by the state.
According to the relevant provisions of Health Care Service of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the boundaries of medical behavior are vague to a great extent.
For example, according to the definition of "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of TCM Health Care Services", "TCM health care services are activities that use the concepts, methods and technologies of traditional Chinese medicine (ethnic medicine) to maintain body and mind, prevent diseases, enhance physical fitness and promote health, including related services provided by non-medical institutions and medical institutions."
So, which services are provided by medical institutions and which services are provided by non-medical institutions?
Article 5 of the Guiding Opinions states: "Clarify the service content and standardize the behavior of TCM health care service";
"TCM health care institutions can provide TCM health status identification and evaluation, consultation and guidance, health intervention, health management and other services, and can use TCM techniques such as massage, scraping, cupping, moxibustion, fumigation and washing, as well as other health care methods and products guided by TCM theory. Chinese medicine health status appraisal and evaluation services should be carried out by Chinese medicine practitioners (assistants).
