Preparation before transplanting
Dig a tree pit: the tree pit of the newly planted land should be dug about a week before transplanting. The diameter of the pre-dug tree pit is about 1 m larger than the packaging diameter of the transplanted tree (convenient for workers to operate in the pit), and the height should be equal to the packaging height of the transplanted tree. The excavated topsoil and subsoil are placed separately, the soil is spread out to dry, and impurities such as bricks and tiles in the soil are cleaned up. Then ferrous sulfate is added according to the ratio of 10:1(soil is10 parts) to increase soil acidity, disinfect soil and enhance fertility.
Pruning: Pruning osmanthus fragrans is one of the keys to transplant survival. Because osmanthus fragrans is not strong in sprouting, it is not suitable to cut off the stems and branches. Only the leaves of osmanthus fragrans can be trimmed, and the leaves are cut off with scissors, leaving the petiole to protect the axillary buds and retaining one third of the original leaves. This can not only reduce the evaporation of water, but also retain the beauty of the original crown.
Seedling raising and transportation
Seedling raising: it is best to use hard packaging for transplanting osmanthus. The big osmanthus tree to be transplanted should be watered once a week in advance so that its roots can absorb enough water. This makes it easy to dig into balls, and the soil balls will not be scattered because the soil is too dry. The diameter of the soil ball should be 6 ~ 8 times the diameter of the plant crown above the ground 1 m, and the height should be 70% of the diameter of the soil ball. You'd better dig it out if you can. When digging, the topsoil at the base of the trunk should be removed, and a quadrangular trapezoid should be dug according to the required diameter. The diameter of the lower opening is 1/3 of that of the upper opening, and the diameter of the dug ball is 5 ~ 10cm larger than that of the formwork (to fasten the soil ball with the formwork). While digging the earth ball, prepare the template, threading wire (made of steel wire) and iron wire, and get ready for packing the earth ball in time after digging. The big roots that need to be cut off when digging the ball should be sawed off with a hand saw, not with other tools. The cross section of the root should be made into paste with sulfur powder and ABT rooting agent according to the ratio of 3: 2 for treatment. After digging the soil ball, quickly fasten the formwork, tighten it with threads, wrap the trunk with straw rope and lift it.
Transportation: Osmanthus fragrans should be placed upright when it is hoisted on the vehicle. The original soil (the old soil for digging the ball) should be wrapped around the soil ball and tied to death. The crown should be tightly wrapped with plastic film to prevent movement and shaking during transportation.
Planting and post-management
Planting: Before planting, backfill the pre-dug tree pit with the original soil brought back by osmanthus trees, with the range of 10 ~ 15cm. Because osmanthus trees are not flood-resistant, the planting depth of osmanthus trees is 10 to15cm higher than the original ground. First, hang the osmanthus tree and put it in the original growth direction, then put a plastic pipe at each corner of the tree pit to increase the permeability of the root after filling the tree pit. Then, when the formwork is dismantled in turn, backfill the soil to 1/3 of the height of the soil ball, and fill the original soil near the soil ball, and fill in a layer of solid soil to prevent the soil ball from being broken. All tree pits are filled, cofferdam, supported and watered for the first time.
Post-management: water it again 3 ~ 4 days before the first watering. Second, after the water is completely dried in the shade, the residual soil around the original tree pit is surrounded by roots, forming a mound with high middle and low sides, so that the osmanthus tree will not be drowned due to accumulated water. Third, the spring water must be watered once next spring. Fourth, spray the leaves and branches with the mixed solution of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and bactericide (carbendazim, etc.). Once every half month, the average temperature is about 20℃. It not only topdressing the leaves of osmanthus trees, but also plays a role in sterilization.
It is estimated that your tree is not that big, but the steps are similar and the soil ball is smaller.
