Ningbo University has majors in engineering mechanics, communication engineering, aquaculture, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, biotechnology, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, vehicle engineering, industrial engineering, environmental engineering and so on. Ningbo University, referred to as Ningda for short, is located in Ningbo, a sub-provincial city with separate plans. It is a university jointly founded by China people, Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, Ningbo Municipal People's Government, State Oceanic Administration and Ningbo Municipal People's Government. It is a national "double-class" and "world-class discipline construction university", the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province, the first batch of key universities in Zhejiang Province, and the first batch of universities in China to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship. It has been selected into the national "11/plan", the outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan, the new engineering research and practice project, the China municipal government scholarship receiving institution for foreign students in China, the national innovative experimental zone for college students' independent entrepreneurship teaching mode, and the national college practical education and innovation and entrepreneurship base. It is the leading unit of Ningbo National University Science Park and a member of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, with bachelor's and master's degrees. The school was founded on 1986. At the beginning of the school, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, China University of Science and Technology, Peking University and the former Hangzhou University built it. 1996, the former Ningbo University, Ningbo Normal University and Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Fisheries College merged to form a new Ningbo University.
