Wuhan University, formerly known as Hadron School, was born in 1893. It is a famous comprehensive research university in China and the earliest national university established in modern China.
1893, Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, invited the Qing government to set up a self-improvement school in Wuchang, which opened the curtain of modern higher education in China.
