In this context, we arranged interviews with people in the industry. "Giving up six years of Internet experience and transforming to carbon neutrality is the most important decision I have made in my life!" This is the theme of our interview in this issue.
Would you please introduce yourself briefly?
At most, it has been almost a year and a half since I left the Internet to enter carbon neutrality, and my annual income is about 50W.
It is by no means smooth sailing, or even bumpy, for an Internet product manager to turn into a new energy project director.
After a year and a half of career changes, I quickly gained a foothold in a brand-new field. So I want to share with you my understanding of the carbon-neutral industry and my own growth over the past year, hoping to give you some help.
Why did you switch from the Internet to carbon neutrality?
Choosing a good industry is very important. Each of us is small after all. In the torrent of the times, we are just a floating sand, and the torrent of the times is unstoppable. Even if the qualifications are average, as long as you stand in the right position at the right time, you can rise to the highest level.
Under the background, the Internet has gone through the barbaric growth stage, entered a stable period, and the dividend has gradually ebbed. In particular, many companies have given up new businesses that burn money for a long time and are not profitable. Some business departments are even one-pot, and profitable departments will optimize personnel according to a certain proportion. Only after slimming can the overall profit be guaranteed.
From the supervision of Ant Financial, we have tightened the network car industry, data-related industries, Internet education, and then Internet finance. As far as I know, some companies have frozen the society, even the school recruitment. This is the severity I have never seen in my six years in business.
Is new energy really a good track?
Carbon neutrality, the main theme of the next 40 years.
In 2020, China put forward the goal of "carbon neutrality at the peak of carbon dioxide emission in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060". At the beginning of 20021,"carbon neutrality" was written into the government work report for the first time and became a national strategy. 202 1 is also regarded as "the first year of carbon neutrality". The essence of carbon neutrality is to make carbon dioxide emissions "balance" and slow down global warming.
After the goal of "double carbon" was put forward, internet giants have accelerated the follow-up of "carbon neutrality" this year, formulated carbon neutrality goals and plans, and implemented them throughout the year. From June 5438+ 10, Tencent fired the first shot and started the carbon-neutral target planning; In March, Ant Group promised to achieve carbon neutrality in operating emissions from this year and achieve net zero emissions in 2030; By mid-June, Baidu released a "carbon neutral panorama", announcing the goal of achieving carbon neutrality at the operational level of the Group in 2030; At the end of the year, Ali also clearly put forward three goals of carbon neutrality. Before 2030, to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operation, the carbon emission intensity of upstream and downstream value chains will be halved, and the platform will be used to drive the ecological carbon reduction in 15 years1500 million tons.
Head investment institutions such as Sequoia Capital and Gaoyao Capital have announced the inclusion of ESG in investment decisions. After the carbon barrier of carbon management SaaS enterprises disclosed the A round of financing, it was reported that the founder received more than 65,438+0,000 calls from investors in one day.
Carbon neutrality is the runway of national policy and capital influx. Moreover, carbon neutrality is not only being done in China, but also all over the world. It is difficult to find a second "carbon neutral" industry.
How do ordinary people successfully change careers?
First, you need to know what you want to do.
Do a SWOT analysis for yourself and make clear what you are good at and what you can do. Relevant data prove that if you put all your time and energy into a narrow field and become an expert in the sub-field, it will be easier to succeed.
Second, we need to understand what the carbon-neutral market needs.
Whether reading industry reports or through industry portals and other information, we can clearly understand what is the core sector in the field of carbon neutrality and what skills are needed.
Third, do the combination again to achieve the best cost performance.
Through the analysis of the above two steps, you can draw a circle to evaluate the fit, and the intersection part is the most cost-effective, instead of saying that carbon neutrality is very popular in R&D jobs now, so it is difficult for me to directly transfer from zero foundation to R&D.
