Suzhou Sports School is a specialized school that combines sports with education, takes training as the center, takes educating people as the foundation, and strives to cultivate sports reserve talents.

Since its establishment, with the concern of the leaders of the municipal party committee and the municipal government, under the direct leadership of the Municipal Sports Bureau, with the help of the municipal education department, and through the joint efforts of all teachers and students, the school has successively won many titles such as "National Advanced Amateur Sports Training Unit", "National Advanced Sports School", "National Youth Basketball Training Key Unit" and "National Track and Field High-level Reserve Talents Training Base".

In terms of sports talents, four international athletes, 34 national athletes and 143 national first-class athletes have been trained successively, which has contributed to the cultivation of national high-level sports talents.

The new school site will be started in September 2007. The newly-built sports school is located in Xiangcheng District, covering an area of 3 12 mu (including the water surface), with an estimated total investment of 250 million yuan.
