Why China University Students "Fail"
In the nearly two years' incubation work, the author hatched 16 teams, seven survived after half a year's establishment, and only four survived after 1 year's establishment, of which one was acquired by technology, one was unfunded but achieved balance of payments, one was able to get angel investment immediately, and the best one was able to get A round of financing soon. From 12 failed projects and 4 relatively successful cases, the author summarizes the lessons of 10 college students' entrepreneurship: 1. Students should not be a product that focuses on upstream and downstream docking. Cloud technology is a very interesting project. Its goal is to help you slim down your wallet and put all the discount cards, membership cards and loyalty cards on one app. But the project finally failed. The reason is: this is a resource-oriented project. They are equivalent to the bridge between merchants and consumers. It is difficult to meet the needs of consumers, not to mention that they need a large number of merchants to register updates on your app. The latter is a short board that needs a lot of social resources, and college students can often make up for it without hard work. Therefore, college students' programs generally only connect with one type of users. For example, Facebook was originally only for college students, and the super curriculum was only for college students. 2. If your entrepreneurial direction is not your hobby, please be careful. As the saying goes, interest is the best teacher, and the jargon is like a mountain. The most reliable student project first comes from the interests of entrepreneurs. A team that doesn't like reading, but is an interest society among book lovers; A person who does not play games himself, but plays games in a whimsical way. It takes time and cost to really enter an industry, and it is necessary to understand new concepts, user habits and hidden rules. Time is the biggest cost of starting a business. Can you enter an industry and do your project at the same time? In the undergraduate stage, most students have not formed systematic knowledge about product control and design ability and understanding of human nature. With a passion, we start with the most familiar and frequently contacted aspects, find the troublesome, inconvenient and embarrassing places in the process, and use the Internet and technology to optimize the process, so as to make everyone's (users') life better. Yes, both the app and the website are just a way of optimization (this was understood a month ago, and recently I have a new understanding of what the essence of the Internet is), which is not the theme of life. 3. Personnel stability is the biggest killer of the student team, and the team leader is the most important thing to determine the success or failure of the project. In the first and most critical six months of each team, more than half (9/ 16) teams have personnel changes. Looking back at the data at the beginning of the article: There is a certain correlation between the number of teams that failed in starting a business for half a year (9/ 16). The teams of the two data do not coincide. We can know through observation that a member of the team is not here because of personal development goals. After half a year or a semester, they will choose to give up because of the real pressure (insurance, postgraduate entrance examination, TOEFL, GRE). And because these members took on an important part of the project, the project had to be suspended. Unless, the team's own execution is very high, the product will be made within 6 months. This is very difficult. See point 4 for details. After half a year, the products of the project came out. This is the key moment for the team leader to play a role, and the success or failure of the project also depends on the team leader. Team leader plays such an important role: product design, part of technical work, marketing, strategic development and team coordination. After half a year, products are user-oriented and market-oriented, and technology research and development has become a secondary factor. How to get a good data, a good reputation and even a good profit for the project in a limited time requires the team leader to be super forward-looking and direct the work of the team members. A good project, their captain is undoubtedly outstanding, making people feel nb. 4. Do the project for the first time? Don't think too much, just accumulate experience. At the beginning, I thought that college students could succeed in starting a business by virtue of their learning ability, even if they were doing a project for the first time. But the fact tells me that the lack of experience of students is the main reason. The concrete manifestations are: the progress can not be guaranteed, the timetable is infinitely delayed, and a demo has not been made for one semester (half a year), which leads to the disintegration of the team. In the 16 project, seven teams did it for the first time, and only 1 team survived (XL-View). The surviving team was not smooth sailing, and there was a team shock in the middle. Fortunately, the person in charge and I reorganized the team in time. Therefore, students who want to join or form an entrepreneurial team should see if your team has any previous collective project experience (not the innovative practice project of the school), but have you ever undertaken outsourcing? Have you done any other project renovation? If not, you really want to work in this team. Don't be too arrogant. The first project, practice your hands first. 5. Too many social, e-commerce and platform students have a beautiful vision, but this vision is also their current goal. This leads to the wish being too beautiful to come true. They described the three most common words of the project: social, e-commerce and platform. No project was born like this. These three words are just your future development direction. Any vision is superimposed step by step. In the beginning, Facebook was just a Facemash (who is more beautiful than two people), without socializing, sharing or logging in. There are only two buttons, A beautiful or B beautiful. Facebook is also based on this kind of iteration, improvement and revision. So is Twitter. These stories can be found online. Lack of ability to refine vision into core functions. Doing only one core function allows you to concentrate on doing this function best. An excellent function of 100% is undoubtedly more attractive than the function of 10 10%. Starting a business is like a group of people fighting for territory. You can choose to be as elegant as a gentleman, take out a handkerchief to wipe the tip of your gun, pay attention to ceremony, and the hooligan will come up and wave his fist and start work. Liveordie, make your choice. Think about the camera behind this sentence and you will understand.
