The reimbursement scope of the new rural cooperative medical system is: medical expenses, examination expenses, laboratory expenses, operation expenses, treatment expenses and nursing expenses incurred by the insured in designated hospitals due to illness during the overall planning period, which meet the reimbursement scope of medical insurance for urban employees (i.e. effective medical expenses).

But there are four situations that will not be reimbursed:

1, abnormal referral to higher hospital. If ordinary people go to non-designated areas for medical treatment and there is no local hospital for medical treatment, medical expenses cannot be reimbursed. The common people always have a mentality that local doctors are not good at medical skills. Once sick, it is common to go directly to big cities and even seek medical treatment across provinces.

2. Non-disease-related expenses. Second, medical expenses not caused by diseases, such as beauty, dental implants, glasses, hearing AIDS, cosmetic surgery and some rehabilitation treatments (such as acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, etc.), cannot be reimbursed. In addition, transportation, accommodation, nutrition, meals and other expenses incurred by normal medical treatment cannot be reimbursed.

3. Expenses not caused by itself. For injuries caused by non-self reasons, such as traffic accidents, work-related injuries, third-party infringement, etc., the new rural cooperative medical system cannot reimburse these expenses.
