What is the function and use of hawthorn?
Hawthorn is also called red fruit, and some people call it mountain red. It belongs to Crataegus of Rosaceae and is a small deciduous tree. Originally from China, it has been cultivated for 3000 years. Its fruit is rich in nutrients, especially iron and calcium. It can stimulate appetite, promote digestion, prevent heatstroke, refresh the mind, nourish blood and remove blood stasis. Has antitumor, anticancer and bactericidal effects. Therefore, it is not only a fruit crystal that people like to eat, but also a medicinal material with excellent medical effect.

Hawthorn has many varieties and is widely distributed, covering more than ten provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions from south to north. Shandong, Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi and other places are cultivated. The yield per plant is generally 30-50 kg, with a maximum of 500 kg.

Grafted hawthorn seedlings can generally blossom and bear fruit in 3 ~ 5 years, and reach the full fruit stage in about 10 years. If the cultivation and management conditions are suitable, the fruit will not decrease even if it is 60-70 years old. Its mixed buds are usually inserted between the top of the fruiting mother branch and several axils near the top. Generally, it germinates in March-April and produces fruiting branches. If you pay attention, you will find an umbrella at the top of the fruiting branch. With the increase of temperature, there will be 15 ~ 25 flowers per inflorescence, and occasionally there will be 40 flowers. It takes only 2 ~ 3 weeks from branching to flowering, and the fruit will mature in the first and middle months of 10. In 1 month, with the roar of the north wind, the leaves will float down.

Hawthorn tree has strong adaptability and can be cultivated in both plain and mountainous areas. Generally, it is most suitable for cold and dry climate, cold and drought-tolerant, and rainy. If the sun is too straight, it is easy to get sunburned; If there is not enough sunshine, the color will be poor. The requirements for soil conditions are not strict, and neutral or slightly acidic sandy loam and silt are better.
