Please introduce the last king of Romania.
Before World War II, Romania was a constitutional monarchy. Mihai I, 85, is the last king of this former kingdom. He had lunch with German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, shook hands with former British Prime Minister Churchill, and was awarded a medal by Soviet leader Stalin. After many ups and downs in life, peace has become the only tone of the old man's life.

Young king

He is a quiet old man, and ups and downs make him no longer have too many demands on the outside world. He is used to silently paying attention to this noisy society.

"I dealt with the Nazis for four years and the Soviet Union for three years," Mihai I recalled. He is still mumbling because of the stuttering symptoms when he was a child.

Mihai I was born in 192 1. His father Carlo II was married three times before his death, and he gave birth to Mihai I with his second wife, Greek princess Elena. After divorcing Queen Elena, Carol II of Romania married his third wife Elena Lupescu on 1947. Due to the divorce of parents and other reasons, the relationship between Mihai I and his father is very cold, and there is not much contact between the two sides.

Carlo II left Romania at the age of 3, when Mihai I became Romania's heir to the throne. Two years later, Mikhail's grandfather, then king of Romania, died, and Mikhail naturally became the youngest monarch in Europe. 1930, Carlo ii returned to China, and Mihai I was reduced to crown prince.

In the shadow of World War II, Mihai I ascended the throne in 1940. It was not until 1947 that the Romanian People's Republic was founded, and Mihai I abdicated and moved to Switzerland.

Interestingly, when he went to Switzerland, he not only took his luggage, but also took four cars. Collecting cars is his lifelong hobby.

In Switzerland, he mainly depends on others to support himself. "Raising money is not a good thing, but you must do it." He raised his eyebrows and looked helpless.

1989 12 after the Romanian upheaval, Mihai I returned to China and lived in the Elizabeth Palace in Bucharest. He lives in Romania for several months every year and spends almost all the rest of his time in Switzerland.

The Second World War

World War II was the most important period in King Mikhail's life. 1940 officially ascended the throne at the age of 18. He had to face the fact that the Romanian government in power at that time stood on the side of fascist Germany and participated in the war against the Soviet Union.

During World War II, Nazi fascists massacred Jews crazily. Mihai I and his mother made some efforts to stop this terrible massacre. "We are friends of the leading rabbis in China," Mihai I said with a little pride. "They will tell us the latest situation every two weeks. My mother and I tried our best to help. "

He said that what he and his mother did made the Nazis extremely dissatisfied, and the Nazi leader later issued a "strong protest" to Romanian Prime Minister antonescu, who was loyal to fascist Germany and held real power.

1In the summer of 944, the Soviet Red Army launched a powerful offensive against the Germans in Romania, and Mihai I began to cooperate with the Romanian Production Party. On August 23rd, Mihai I arrested antonescu in the palace and locked him in the safe where his father Carlo II collected stamps. Since then, the Romanian army turned its guns and took military action against the Germans until the end of the war.

Subsequently, Mihai I announced the establishment of a new government, ceased fire with the Soviet Union, and fled into the mountains that night. A few hours later, German planes flew to the Romanian palace and began to bombard it. Mihai I later had to move into the Elizabeth Palace and use it as the king's palace.

Some historians have commented that Mikhail's actions shortened the duration of World War II by several weeks and prevented tens of thousands of lives from becoming cannon fodder.

After the war, Soviet commander Stalin personally presented Mihai I with the Soviet Victory Medal and presented him with a Soviet plane. According to RIA Novosti, in September 2005, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Mihai I the medal of "60th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War".

Postwar changes

In a room in Elizabeth Palace, Mihai I signed the abdication document. Nowadays, Mikhail often kills time in this room. He often sits on a cushioned sofa and watches TV.

Mikhail, who was in exile, worked in a Swiss airline and worked as a manager in a brokerage company in Geneva. "I have to do something," he said During this period, he and his wife gave birth to five daughters.

"I am very lucky to marry the person I love. She helped me a lot, "said the old man.

1989, Romanian upheaval, ceausescu stepped down. 200 1 Romanian Parliament confirmed that Mihai I enjoyed the same rights as other former Romanian heads of government and allowed him to use the Elizabeth Palace before his death. In the same year, he won back the confiscated Sabishburg Palace through legal procedures. Sabishburg, located near the northern Romanian city of Adela, was purchased by Mikhail and his mother in 1943.

The old man said that sometimes you don't feel at home in Romania. However, recalling the tragic World War II and the tortuous past, he felt very lucky. "At least he has lived to this day."
