The first step after installing the system should be to do a good job in computer security protection, such as modifying the administrator's user name and password, turning off irrelevant * * * enjoyment, putting on key patches, installing anti-virus software and upgrading the virus database, turning off useless * * * enjoyment, closing dangerous computer ports and banning NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
1. Turn off the default * * *
Windows will create some hidden enjoyment after installation, which is not very safe. We can cut off the enjoyment of * * * by pressing Win+R, typing gpedit.msc, and gradually expanding folder user configuration →Windows settings → scripts (login/logout) in the opened window. In the sub-window to the right of the corresponding script (login/logout) folder, double-click the login option and click in the pop-up window. Select preset batch file to delete the default * * * enjoyment. For example, the script file here is "delshare.bat" of drive C, as shown in figure 1, and finally click "OK" to delete the default * * * to enjoy Windows. Note that the "delshare.bat" of disk C must be created in advance, and the code is:
@ Turn off echo
Net share c USD /del
Net share d USD/Del
Network share ipc$/del
Net share management fee /del
After completing the above settings, restart the system, and the default * * * access channel of Windows 2003 will be automatically cut off. If you have more hard disks, please add them under the net share d$/del, such as the net share e$/del and the net share f$/del.
2. Don't rush to access the network.
After installing Windows, don't connect the server to the network immediately, because the server has not been patched and there are various loopholes, which are very easy to be infected and invaded by viruses. At this time, it is necessary to add shock wave and shock wave patch, and then you can surf the internet after restarting.
Tip: Patches should be installed after all applications are installed, because patches often replace or modify some system files. If you install the patch first and then install the application, the patch may not work properly. For example, every time the configuration of IIS is changed, the patch of IIS needs to be reinstalled.
3. It is forbidden to establish an empty connection
By default, any user can connect to the server through a null connection, enumerate accounts and guess passwords. You can prohibit the establishment of empty connections in the following two ways.
(1) change the key value of [local _ machine \ system \ currentcontrolset \ control \ LSA] to 1, as shown in figure 2.
(2) Modify the local security policy of Windows 2000, and set RestrictAnonymous in "Local Security Policy → Local Policy → Options" as "Enumerate SAM accounts, and sharing is not allowed".
4. Consider playing SP2.
The latest patch is the simplified Chinese version of Windows XP Service Pack 2, but not everyone needs to wear this patch.
5. Cut off the automatic saving channel.
Once an error occurs in the access program of Windows system, the Dr.Watson program in the system will automatically save some personal privacy information when the error occurs, which is often the hacker's favorite "stalking"; In order to avoid revealing private information, the automatic saving function of Dr. Watson's program should be cut off:
Open the registry editor, expand the item [HKEY _ local _ machine \ software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ current version \ AeDebug], double-click the Auto value on the right side of the corresponding AeDebug subitem, and set "Numerical Data" to "0". Then enter the "DrWatson folder" of the system (located at), as shown in Figure 3, and just delete the User.dmp and Drwtsn32.log in it.
6. Prevent file name cheating
Set the following options to prevent file name spoofing, such as preventing malicious files with suffixes. Txt or. Exe is displayed as. Txt files, which leads people to open files carelessly: double-click My Computer → Tools → Folder Options → View, select the property setting of "Show all files and folders", and remove the property setting of "Hide extensions of known file types".
Second, drive backup and hardware optimization.
After patching and taking various safety precautions, the next thing to do is to install various drivers. Type the motherboard driver, make sure it is correct, and back up the driver for later use.
1. Set the L2 cache of the CPU to speed up the overall performance.
Open the Registry Editor and expand [HKEY _ Local _ Machine/System/Current Control Set/Control/Session Manager/Memory Management]. In the right window, change the SecondLevelDataCache to a decimal value similar to the CPU L2 cache (for example, P41.6L2 cache is 256Kb, and then change it to a decimal value of 256), as shown in Figure 4.
2. Enable DMA transfer mode
After DMA mode is enabled, computer peripherals (mainly hard disks) can directly exchange data with memory, which can speed up the reading and writing speed of hard disks and improve the data transmission rate.
Select Control Panel → System/Hardware to open Device Manager, where there are two IDE controllers: primary IDE channel and secondary IDE channel, and then enter Properties → Advanced Settings. This dialog box will list the transfer modes of the devices connected to the IDE interface, and click the List button to set the transfer mode to DMA (if available), as shown in Figure 5.
3. Set up virtual memory
Besides CPU and hard disk, memory will also affect XP's running performance, so setting virtual memory can also improve XP's running speed. Setting method:
Go to Control Panel → System/Advanced/Performance/Settings, and in the "Advanced" setting window of "Performance Options", first adjust both "Processor Plan" and "Memory Usage" to "Program", so that the system will give more resources to the foreground program and make it run faster. Click the "Change" button to enter the virtual memory setting window, set the virtual memory value to 2.5 times of the physical memory, and set the initial size and the maximum value to be the same.
If your memory is larger than 256M, it is recommended to disable paging files; If the memory is less than 256M, do not disable the paging file, otherwise the system will crash or XP will not be able to start again!
Thirdly, system performance optimization.
As long as XP is optimized according to the following steps and the system is adjusted to the best state, the running speed of the system can be greatly improved.
1. Turn off error reporting.
Click Start → Settings → Control Panel, open the control panel, double-click the system, click the Advanced tab, then click the Error Report button, select Disable Error Report, uncheck the "Notify me when a serious error occurs" check box below, and click the OK button to exit, as shown in Figure 6!
2. Lighten the tasks loaded at startup
Many softwares will automatically load when XP starts, which will prolong the startup time of the system. The automatic loading of software should be cancelled. Select "Run" in the start menu, type "msconfig" to start the system configuration utility, and enter the Start tab, which lists the projects and source codes loaded when the system starts. If you don't want it to load automatically, just clear the check box in front of the item.
3. Modify the registry to reduce the waiting time of pre-reading and progress bar.
Open the registry editor, expand the registry [HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ current control set \ control \ session manager \ memory management \ prefetch parameters], and change its value to "1" with a key. In addition, friends who don't change their hardware often can set the device type above the bus device to none in the system properties.
4. Cancel the ZIP support of Windows XP.
Click start → run and enter "regsvr32/u ZIPfldr.dll". As shown in Figure 7, a prompt window "Dll UnrgisterServer in zipfldr.dll succeeded" will appear, canceling Windows XP's support for zip folders.
5. Enjoy a quick browse of the LAN.
Usually, when connecting to other computers, Windows XP will comprehensively check all scheduled tasks on other computers. This check will make you wait for 30 seconds or more. The solution is to delete the registry key [HKEY _ local _ machine \ software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ current version \ resource manager \ remote computer \ namespace] under the registry, and Windows XP will not check the scheduled tasks after restarting the computer.
6. Turn off redundant services
Click Start → Settings/Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools → Services, right-click the service to be configured, click Properties, and select Auto, Manual or Disabled on the General tab. In the actual configuration, you can turn off the service by selecting Manual or Disable. Manual function is recommended, so that some temporary services can be started at any time.
7. Reduce the waiting time for multiple starts.
When Windows XP is stored with other Windows***, the startup menu will be displayed every time it is started. The method of closing the startup menu is as follows: Click the "Settings" button under "Startup and Fault Recovery" to enter the "Settings" window, and select Windows XP as the default operating system at startup, and the time for displaying the startup menu is 0; As shown in Figure 8, if another operating system is not used or temporarily hidden, uncheck the check box before "Show operating system list time".
8.Windows XP realizes automatic shutdown.
If XP can't shut down automatically, click Control Panel → Power Options → Advanced Power Management, and check Enable Advanced Power Management. If not, there should be something wrong with the motherboard BIOS.
9. Optimize the interface of XP
After XP is installed, the taskbar, start menu, desktop background, windows and buttons all adopt the luxury style of XP, which is a great waste of system resources. It is suggested to restore the Windows classic interface: right-click the blank space of the desktop, click Properties in the pop-up menu to enter the display property setting window, set the theme and appearance to Windows classic, set the desktop background to none, and press OK to save and exit. Right-click the taskbar and select Properties. Remove the check mark before "Similar taskbar button grouping" from the Taskbar tab; Select the Classic Start Menu from the Start Menu tab.
10. Close Remote Desktop
Click My Computer → Properties/Remote, and under Remote Desktop, select Allow users to connect to this computer remotely.
1 1. Turn off system restore.
XP turns on the system restore function by default, and each drive occupies up to 4% ~ 12% of the hard disk space. Moreover, the monitoring system restored by the system will automatically create a restore point, which will occupy more system resources when running in the background. It should be off: Right-click Properties in my computer, click System Properties → System Restore, and system restore on all drives will be off. You can also turn off the system restore of unimportant partitions, and do not turn off the restore function if system security is considered.
12. Use less visual effects
Click Control Panel → System, and select the Advanced tab in the system properties to enter the performance options interface, where there are many "visual effects". The more effects are selected, the more system resources will be occupied, so we choose the item "Adjust to the best performance", as shown in Figure 9, so as to turn off all visual effects such as fade-in, smooth scrolling and sliding opening.
13. Turn off special effects in system properties.
This is a simple and effective acceleration method. Click "Start → Control Panel → System → Advanced → Performance → Settings", and in the visual effect, adjust the settings to the best performance → OK. In this way, the desktop will be very similar to Windows 2000. I still like the blue window of XP, so I checked "Use visual styles on windows and buttons" so that I can see the beautiful blue interface and speed up.
14. Accelerated menu display
Click "Start → Run", type Regedit, enter [HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop], and change the value of MenuShowDelay to 0 (200 if you feel uncomfortable), which will take effect after restarting. After the modification, the display speed of XP start menu and even the menu of application software will be obviously accelerated.
15. Accelerate XP shutdown.
Click "Start → Run", type Regedit, and change HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ to 1000, that is, only wait 1 second when closing the program; Change the key value HungAppTimeout to 200, which means waiting for 0.5 seconds when the program goes wrong; Please set HKEY _ local _ machine \ system \ current control set \ control \ waittokilservicetimeout to 1000 or less.
Let the system automatically shut down the program that stops responding. Methods: Set the value of HKEY _ Current _ User \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ Auto End Task to 1, which will take effect after restarting the computer.
16. Turn off the engraving function built in XP.
XP turns on the built-in CD burning function by default, which can speed up the processing speed of Nero burning software. If you don't use this function, you can turn it off: click Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services, and double-click IMAPI CD burning COM service, as shown in figure 10, and change the startup type to manual or disabled.
17. Change the size and image quality of thumbnails.
Windows XP introduces the thumbnail function of Windows 2000 in the basic layer, which provides convenience for us to view the pictures in the folder. We can change the size of thumbnails by modifying the related items in the registry, so as to display more thumbnails on one page. The method is as follows: type Regedit in Start → Run, open the Registry Editor, expand the branch [HKEY _ Local _ Machine \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Resource Manager], and create a new DWORD value named "ThumbnailSize" in the right window. Its value range is 32-256 (decimal), and it is recommended to choose 50 (the default value is 100), so that the thumbnails can be reduced and more thumbnails can be displayed on the same page. After exiting Registry Editor, we can see the effect immediately. This can greatly facilitate our search work under the condition that the preview effect is not high.
Using thumbnails to view files will inevitably take up disk space and memory. We can relieve the pressure on disk and memory by changing the image quality of thumbnails. Similarly, add a DWORD value named ThumbnailQuality to the right window of this registry branch, which is set between 50 and 100 (decimal). The recommended setting is 50. In addition, if you click View → Thumbnail in my computer, hold down the Shift key at the same time. In this way, the file name will not be displayed under the thumbnail. To display the file name again, simply choose another viewing method, and then select the Thumbnail method.
18. Consider disabling the thumbnail function of Windows XP completely.
For users with poor memory, the thumbnail function is a bit poor. You can disable the thumbnail function! Open the registry editor, expand the branch [HKEY _ Current _ User \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Explorer \ Advanced], find the "ClassicViewState" item in the right window, and change its value to 1, as shown in figure1. Then open a browser, click Tools → Folder Options, enter the viewing tab, and select "Don't cache thumbnails" in the advanced settings bar.
Fourth, install the necessary software
At this time, we should start the necessary software, such as WinRAR, WinZIP, email receiving and sending software. ...
Fifth, lose weight and prepare for system cloning.
1. Delete new device file.
If you are sure that no new devices will be added to the system, you can delete files in the directory or set the file size to free up space.
2. Uninstall unused components
modify
3. Delete unused files
Driver's backup driver. Cab: Yes.
Help file: in
Unused input method: to
4. Redirect folders related to the system
Put temporary files outside the startup disk, move my documents folder, and move IE temporary folder to another partition.
Six, backup the whole system
1.Ghost backup system partition
It took so long to optimize the cleaning system. If you don't save the results, wouldn't it be a loss? Ghosts are the best choice.
2. Back up the partition table and boot data.
In anti-virus software such as KV, the function of creating emergency recovery disk is added. In fact, it is to back up partition tables and boot data. Remember to back up the partition table, especially for users who use Ghost.
