Taiyi Zhenren is the leader of Wei Qing, so Taiyi Zhenren belongs to Wei Qing. He practiced in the Jinguangdong Dojo in Qianyuan Mountain and helped the King of Wu to attack Zhou. Taiyi Zhenren ranks fifth among the twelve immortals in Kunlun Jade Que, and is one of the true disciples of Yuanshi Tianzun, the head of Buddhism.

Taiyi Zhenren belongs to Wei Qing School. It is clearly mentioned in the Romance of Gods that Taiyi is the "founder of Wei Qing". Wei Qing School is one of the three schools of Fu You in the Southern Song Dynasty, which lasted from the end of Yuan Dynasty to the beginning of Ming Dynasty. The school claimed to be the Buddha of Qingyuan in Tian Yu, Wei Qing, so it took Wei Qing as its name. Wei Qing School mainly adopts Fu Yong's Lei method, and Taiyi should be the founder of Wei Qing School.
