1, C:\ Windows \ software distribution
Dear students, don't be confused by the name of the folder ~ This folder is actually the backup folder of the old system files after the system is patched, similar to the hidden folder of KBXXXXXX under the C:\Windwows folder of the previous XP system. Patches released by Microsoft either fix bugs or make up for system vulnerabilities, while ordinary systems rarely need to be uninstalled because they are unstable after being patched. Therefore, you can safely delete all files in this folder. Deleting this folder can free up 200M or more hard disk space, depending on the number of patches played by the system.
Under the normal operation of Windows, some files in this folder are used and cannot be deleted. If you need to delete it completely, you can press F8 to enter safe mode to delete it.
2、C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup
The winsxs folder is a very important folder in the Windows directory, which stores many important components of Windows, and the version is also very complicated, which is as important as the well-known System32 folder. These files support mscorwks.dll, and nmscorwks cannot be loaded without them. If the system files in it are forcibly deleted, Windows may only be forced into safe mode, and Windows will "hang up". In order to ensure the normal operation of Windows, never delete the files inside without knowing what the function is. However, a single winsxs folder occupies more than half of the capacity of Windows (nearly 3GB). Not only that, with the increase of system usage time, the volume of winsxs folder will become more and more bloated. Is the winsxs folder so inviolable? No ~ Everything in the backup folder below it can be safely deleted. The files in the backup folder, like the SoftwareDistribution folder above, are actually old system files patched by Windows, but the files stored are larger than the SoftwareDistribution and the folder size is smaller.
Deleting files under C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup is complicated. If you want to simply delete them, you can use the system cleaner included with Windows7 optimizer to delete them. Manual deletion requires first obtaining ownership of the backup folder.
3、C:\ Windows \ System32 \ DriverStore \ file repository
Many children's shoes may have guessed their names. This folder actually stores the driver files that come with Win7. In addition, after the new hardware driver is installed in the system, the old driver will also be backed up and stored here by Win7. Many children's shoes (especially those with desktop computers) can be used directly after installing Win7 as long as the machine hardware is in 2008 or before, and you can rely on it without installing a driver. As a new generation of Windows system, in order to support so many released old hardware, Win7' s own driver is far more perfect than Vista and XP, at the cost of huge volume. For the newly installed Win7 system, this folder has 700~800 m physique. With the increase of the driver hardware installed in the system, more and more driver versions are updated, and the volume of this folder will grow like a snowball. Obviously, as you guessed, most of the driver files in it are incompatible with the machine, and only a few are suitable for this machine. In addition, in many cases, after the system updates the new driver that fixes the bug and enhances the function, there is no need to back up the old driver.
However, although the folder is bloated, it is still very important. Many hardware supported by Windows and some original drivers of hot-swappable hardware are also stored here. Some children's shoes have been cleaned by the Windows7 optimizer, but the handles and cards that could have been hot-swapped did not respond after being plugged into the machine, because the files inside were cleaned. Therefore, if you need to clean up these children's shoes with redundant files, you'd better first install all the hardware to be used on the machine and install the driver, and then move the knife on this folder.
4. Other cleanable folders and temporary system folders:
C:\Users\Public\Music: Store sample music, that is, songs that can be heard by opening the media player after Windows is newly installed. I guess no one will listen ~ you can delete it with confidence ~
C:\Users\Public\Pictures: store sample pictures. I guess no one will read it ~ delete it ~
C:\Users\Public\Videos: Store the sample video, that is, the two paragraphs that can be watched by opening Media Player after the new installation of Windows ~ Delete it ~
The following folders are used to store temporary system files. Children's shoes can be cleaned up as appropriate.
C:\Windows\Temp: Store the temporary files generated by the installation and operation of the program, which can safely delete the garbage inside.
C:\Users\ (current system user name) \AppData\Local\Temp: It is also used to store temporary files generated by program installation and operation, and the default temporary directory for WinRAR decompression is also here. You can safely delete the garbage inside.
C:\Users\ (current system user name) \ appdata \ local \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Temporary Internet files: All kinds of pictures, Flash and other contents downloaded by IE or IE kernel browser when browsing the web are stored here. When viewing the webpage, the contents inside will become junk files ~ Don't worry about cleaning up ~
C:\Users\ (current system user name) \ appdata \ local \ Microsoft \ Windows \ history: As the name implies, it stores Cookies, history, forms and passwords left by browsing the web. To clean up the saved passwords, browse the history and records, and delete the contents ~ in fact, it is cleared in IE- Internet option.
After the above round of slimming, the space occupied by the newly installed clean 32-bit system can be controlled within 5G, and that of the 64-bit system can be controlled within 6G. Far slimmer than the original OEM system, but also cleaner.
