At present, there are only a few orangutans living in the Borneo lowlands and Sumatra, with less than 30,000 left in the world. In Malay, orangutans mean "people in the forest". Although the Indonesian and Malaysian governments have issued laws to protect orangutans, some experts predict that orangutans may be extinct before 2020, because their living environment is being destroyed by agricultural production and logging activities, coupled with human capture and trafficking.
Orangutans have long reddish-brown hair all over their bodies, and only their faces are smooth and hairless. The upper limbs are longer than the lower limbs, with short hands, feet and thumbs, and no tail. When a man becomes an adult, the throat bag will gradually relax and droop to the chest, and large sarcomatoid fat will grow on both sides of his cheeks and above his eyes. If raised, it will weigh 200 kilograms and become a giant monster. Young orangutans are golden yellow, while adult orangutans are dark brown.
