It is a common flower and tree in China gardens in early spring, with a height of 1-2 meters, a small brown core, thick and soft, and can be knotted continuously, hence the name knotted flower and knotted tree. Usually trigeminal, yellow filiform villous. Leaves alternate, often clustered at the top of branches, long oval, 6-20 cm long, entire, leaving protruding leaf scars after defoliation in late autumn. Yellow flowers, rich fragrance, early spring leaves open, there are safflower varieties; 40-50 flower clusters form a pseudo-head, which is born at or near the top of the branch and droops, and the total stalk is thick and short. Perianth is cylindrical, with four teeth at the apex and petal-shaped. Drupe ovoid, like a honeycomb. After the leaves fall in late autumn, the buds hang down from the branches, and the leaves open first in the next spring.
