How to know your training limit?
Fitness is a great sport, but everything has its two sides, and fitness also has many slots. Before I spit, I want to share something useful with you. Only by learning these things can I vomit.

First of all, I want you to know a concept: FFMI-fat-free body mass index. Fat-free mass index (FFMI) is the benchmark for measuring lean muscle mass. FFMI is more practical in measuring training progress and growth potential, which is different from the body mass index (BMI) which counts fat as weight. Personally, I prefer to call it "muscle index". Many fitness enthusiasts want their muscles and strength to grow infinitely, but obviously this is impossible. What is the limit of a person's muscle mass? The FFMI formula may tell you the answer.

The formula of FFMI is as follows:

FFMI =[ weight KG *( 100%- body fat percentage)]/the square of height.

That is, (1- fat rate) * weight (in kg) divided by (the square of height, in m).

Don't understand? Then take my childhood as an example. Barefoot height 1.74m, weight 80kg, body fat rate 18%. My FFMI index is (1-0. 18)*80 divided by 1.74 and then divided by 1.74=2 1.67. This 2 1.67 is the muscle index of my Xiaoding Yu.

Some people are very tall. If the height exceeds 1.8m, FFMI (after adjustment) = FFMI+6.0* (height1.8).

Then the question is coming, isn't the higher the better? This statement is not accurate. But the taller you are, the higher the upper limit of the growth of body muscles and strength is certain. Personally, I think it's fair, because height has an advantage and short has an advantage. For example, 1.9 meters and 1.7 meters are doing fitness training at the same time.

With the same variables such as talent, nutrition and training, the short figure will definitely be faster and fuller. Therefore, the short-term fitness in the early stage is bound to be more dominant. I even met a master who reached the limit of his muscle mass under natural conditions in four years. For people with the same height, because the upper limit is higher, the corresponding time is longer.

On the other hand, it is precisely because the growth limit of tall people is higher, so when short people approach their own limits, tall people can continue to grow, that is, they can become bigger. Finally, when everyone is close to their limits, standing together, tall and big-boned, will definitely look even more shocking. In this way, in the later stage of fitness training, tall people have an advantage.

In reality, there are always some people who shamelessly say to me, "You are shorter than me, so you practice better than me. It's much harder for me to practice so high! " You don't meet people who are much taller than you but practice well, or you have to keep a straight face and say endlessly, "Because you are tall, you can practice bigger, but I can't practice that big because I am not tall enough!"

The same is true of the development of power. Even many people will say, "You are strong because you are short!"

First of all, the record holders of various strength competitions are very high, close to two meters or even higher.

Second, all achievements are made through hard work and sweat. Take me for example, although I can squat 160kg9rm a year, the limit is between 190kg-200kg. But I added it bit by bit in strict accordance with the training plan, and I talked about it before dinner. In order to gain muscle, I feel sick. It is also common to feel dizzy and nauseous during training. Unmodestly speaking, have you ever experienced the fear of squatting 2.5 times your weight? Your legs are shaking! And those friends who say that we are not tall, so we have great strength. Is leg training often not arranged in your's training plan?

I just want to express that height really has a great influence on fitness and bodybuilding. Although bodybuilding is not a direct confrontation, except professional bodybuilding, others will be graded like heavy competition (all kinds of fighting and wrestling). Otherwise, the end result will definitely be the big fish eat small fish.

Finally, it is undeniable that it is not easy for everyone. When you meet people who practice better than you, even those who grow up quickly after practicing for several years, you should treat these people with a better attitude. Why are they better than you? What can you learn from them? Don't try to find a reason why their muscles and strength will run to you?

Now that we know what FFMI is and the influence of height on FFMI.

So let's discuss the scope of male FFMI:

16~ 18: Muscle strength is very low.

19~20: Typical American or European male college students.

2 1~23: very muscular.

24~26: the limit that can be achieved without relying on drugs.

(Drugs here refer to anabolic drugs, such as steroids, rather than common sports supplements such as creatine protein powder)

Steroids in 1930s (193? ) was discovered by scientists, as a drug, 1945 became popular in Mexico, and later various growth hormones. That is to say, bodybuilders before 1935 are absolutely natural. For example:

Eugene Hill Road, the originator of bodybuilding, is an Olympic statuette.

Basically, FFMI is not only the best tool to guess how much muscle mass you can gain, but also the best tool to see if there is an accurate index of steroid use. The average muscle index of these bodybuilders before 1935 was about 23.5.

1995, an American study found that 156 men can be compared with FFMI. These people are bodybuilders to some extent. Half of them did not use steroids, while the other half admitted to using drugs. Results The average FFMI of those who did not take steroids was 265,438 0.8, and that of those who took steroids was 24.8. In addition, the maximum FFMI of the group who did not take steroids was 25, while the FFMI of many participants in the control group who took steroids dropped below 30!

(Frank Zan, muscle index 25.3)

In order to further explore, the researchers studied 20 American Mr. Champions in the pre-steroid period (1939~ 1959) and found that their average FFMI was 25.4. There is no doubt that the FFMI of Mr. America who relies on natural bodybuilding and advanced genes is only a little higher than that of the steroid control group in the study.

(Governor with a muscle index of 28.7)

Summary:

From the data, it seems that a person who is practicing bodybuilding and not taking steroids has a FFMI of about 25 at most. For example, your height is 1.8m, your body fat is 10%, FFMI=25, and your weight is only 90kg at most. FFMI25 is basically the limit of human beings. Of course, there is no denying that there are natural situations in which the muscle index exceeds 25, but after all, it is rare.

More practically, most men's FFMI can reach 2 1~23, which makes you look thin and muscular. However, basically as long as the muscle index exceeds 26, it is hard not to doubt that there are no drugs (steroids).

This article borrows a lot of information from the Internet. These experimental data are typical for Xiaoding. Arnold admitted to using drugs, and the muscle index was 28.7, while Frank Zan was 25.3. It seems that it is not so difficult to distinguish whether a bodybuilder uses drugs, but also to know more about his level and how much potential he can develop. As for the drug problem, this article will not discuss it too much.
