Late Permian lower quadruped fauna in Jiyuan
1963, the vertebrate paleontology field team of the Institute of Paleoanthropology of China Academy of Sciences collected a batch of well-preserved vertebrate fossils in the gray-purple fine sandstone stratum of Shangshihe Formation in Huaiye Taling, Dayu, Jiyuan (Figure 4. 164). Mr. Yang completed the appraisal work in 1974, and the results were published in the second issue of 1979 vertebrate paleontology and Ancient Humans. He believes that these fossils include 6 genera and 6 species of Pythagoras, Serpentosaurus, Teratosaurus, Cynodontosaurus and Cynodontosaurus.

(1) Paleoamphibians

1) labyrinthine, 3 species: labyrinthine a, L.B, l.c.

2) Pythagoras, 1 species: Pythagoras, China.

(2) Reptiles

Sawtooth fungi, 2 species: Sawtooth serrata in Henan Province and Sawtooth serrata in Jiyuan Province.

(3) mammals and reptiles

1) Mammals, 1 Species: Incomplete Taihang Mountain Dragon, Incomplete Taihang Mountain Dragon.

2) Toothed mammals, 1 species: Wu Wanglong of Dayu and Wang Wulong of Taiyuan.

3) Canine-toothed mammals, 1 species: a variety of Yellow River beasts, Hwanghocyndon multienspidus.

Later researchers (0, 2000) thought that Pythagoras, sawtooth dragon, canine-toothed mammal and toothed mammal confirmed by Mr. Yang might all be members of this fauna. They are one of the three biota distributed in the Late Permian strata in China. The discovery and research of this fauna is one of the important research achievements of Mr. Yang, the father of vertebrates in China, and the oldest terrestrial vertebrate fauna discovered so far in Henan Province, which has important influence at home and abroad.
