The winter temperature in most parts of China is low, but the temperature suitable for turtle growth is generally 25 to 30 degrees, the lowest temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees, and the highest temperature should not be higher than 32 degrees. However, in winter, the temperature is about 5 to 8 degrees, which is a great challenge to the survival of turtles. Therefore, only artificial methods can be used to maintain the appropriate temperature in the farm, such as injecting spring water, building windbreak walls, building greenhouses and so on.

2. Water quality management:

Soft-shelled turtle has stricter requirements on water quality in winter than at other times. One of the reasons is the low temperature in winter, low water activity, easy to produce ammonia nitrogen, which has a great impact on water quality. Ammonia nitrogen is a great threat to the growth of soft-shelled turtle, which will cause gastrointestinal discomfort and systemic decay. You can't change the water often in winter, which will affect the temperature of the swimming pool. One is that some plants can be planted in the water, which has a certain effect on purifying the water quality, and the other is that it can be controlled.

3, lighting management:

Many farmers who breed soft-shelled turtles in winter often ignore the light factor, thinking that the wild soft-shelled turtles are still alive without light in winter, so they think that light has no effect on the growth of soft-shelled turtles. In fact, reasonable light can improve the survival rate of turtle culture in winter, which many people don't know. Generally, we need at least six to eight hours of light a day, and we can do it by supplementing the light in the greenhouse.

4. Feeding management:

Many people say that turtles hibernate in winter, that is, they enter a deep sleep state and do not need to be fed. In fact, as long as they hibernate, they naturally don't need feeding, but that doesn't mean they don't need feeding in winter. Usually, turtles don't hibernate until the water temperature reaches about five degrees. Now that we have adjusted the water temperature in the farm, they naturally don't hibernate. They still have to eat and fatten up these days, but we should pay attention to winter turtles.

5, disease control:

It is impossible to change water as frequently and thoroughly as usual in winter, so it is inevitable that some diseases and pests such as bacteria and parasites will appear. Therefore, after changing water every time, it is necessary to sprinkle chemicals harmless to the soft-shelled turtle to disinfect the water quality, secondly, salvage the sludge in the pond as much as possible, which can reduce pests, finally, feed the soft-shelled turtle reasonably to enhance its own physique, and finally add chemicals for disease prevention and control.
