Cantonese (Cantonese Pinyin: jyut6 jyu5) is a kind of tonal language belonging to Sino-Tibetan language family. In 2009, it was defined as a language by UNESCO and recognized as one of the five main languages used in daily life, second only to Mandarin, the official language of China. It is widely used in China, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hongkong, Macau and Southeast Asia, as well as in Chinese communities in North America, Britain and Australia.
