Guide to entry and life of Dutch immigrants
There are many things to be prepared before and after entering Holland. Here is a guide to the preparation and life of Dutch immigrants, hoping to give you some reference and help.

Preparation before and after immigration

I. Registered account

People who have lived in the Netherlands for more than four months must register their accounts at the city hall. It's free to go to the city hall to register your account, passport, and the double-certificate birth certificate you brought from China.

Married people also need to provide double-certified marriage notarization when registering their accounts. After registration, the city hall will give you a GBAform. If you move to another city while studying in the Netherlands, you should register with the new city hall as soon as possible after moving and cancel your old account.

Second, handle temporary id card.

At the local town hall, it will also be invited by temporary id card; VTV) application materials. Your ID card is the most important document for your life and travel in Holland. It is illegal to live in the Netherlands without an ID card.

Your Dutch identity card is in Dutch. Your personal information and the expiration date of your ID card are written on the front. It is stated on the back that the purpose of living in the Netherlands is to study, and there are restrictions on finding a job. The materials to be submitted for handling the ID card include the application form, your admission notice, economic certificate, insurance materials, bank account opening certificate, or a copy, photo and autograph of the credit card or bank card, and the application fee is 430 euros. These materials are listed in detail in the application form. The application fee generally needs to be settled in cash at the time of processing.

If all goes well, the Immigration Bureau will give you a written notice within two months after receiving your application, so that you can go to the local city hall to get your ID card.

Third, tuberculosis examination

China citizens who have lived in the Netherlands continuously for more than three months need to be examined for tuberculosis. This is also one of the necessary conditions for legal residence in the Netherlands. Maybe you will say, didn't you have a physical examination when you went abroad? Even if you just checked it not long ago, you still have to be re-checked by the Dutch government.

When you receive the application form for temporary id card, you will also receive the TB Examination Registration Form. The alien police will help you make an appointment with the hospital and tell you when to go. After the first examination, the hospital will inform you of the time for the second examination. Generally, everyone has to go through two or three inspections, and the interval between each inspection is about six months. If the scheduled examination time conflicts with your course, please call the hospital in advance to change the time.

Fourth, apply for insurance.

In addition to helping you open an account in the bank, your work unit or school will also arrange for you to buy insurance. The insurance arranged for you by your work unit or school includes at least general health insurance and sometimes liability insurance. Medical insurance means that the insurance company reimburses your medical expenses according to the terms of the contract.

Liability insurance means that after an accident, the insurance company will repay your economic compensation to others according to the terms of the contract. Student medical insurance usually does not cover the cost of going to the dentist, glasses and beauty. Insurance premium usually needs to be settled in cash at the time of processing. Insurance is only valid for one year, and the insurance for the second year needs to be bought at that time.

What you need to prepare for going to Holland.

First, file classes

The first thing to prepare is all kinds of documents. The original must be ready, and it is best to prepare several copies, and things should be carried with you.

Passport must not be forgotten, and it must be guaranteed that the passport is valid for more than half a year. If it is about to expire, it must be replaced with a new one.

Air tickets are also important. Whether it is a paper ticket or an electronic ticket, it is a voucher for your boarding and entry. Be sure to keep it well.

The university admission notice may be spot-checked during the entry inspection, so it is best to carry it with you.

The international health certificate is a little red book issued after studying abroad for physical examination. Many people will ignore this point, but it is an essential item in customs inspection, so it must be put together with the above items.

Second, electronic products.

Mobile phone, carry it with you.

You can buy a computer when you arrive in Holland, but I suggest you take it with you. First, overseas computer systems may not be used, and second, electronic products in the Netherlands are more expensive.

The specifications of the adapter plug and patch panel in Holland are different from those in China. In order to use it smoothly, it is best to buy a conversion plug from China and carry it with you. Supermarkets in the Netherlands also have adapters, but the price is more expensive.

U disk and mobile hard disk will need a lot of materials for reading and class, and also for writing homework and papers at ordinary times, so it is best to download commonly used materials and save them in U disk and mobile hard disk for easy use at any time.

Third, daily necessities

After arriving in Holland, you can buy four sets of sheets, quilts, pillows and other items. After packing, the first thing to do is to go to IKEA. Here, in addition to bedding, you can also buy towels, bath towels and toiletries needed for life, which is very convenient.

Students who usually cook, it is best to bring a rice cooker from home, because in the Netherlands, you can't buy a rice cooker. In addition to cooking, you can also stew meat and soup for all kinds of cooking.

It is enough to bring one or two sets of clothes and shoes from China, and the rest can be selected and purchased after the Netherlands.

Matters needing attention in life

1. Most supermarkets don't accept credit cards.

Although many supermarkets in Europe and America, large and small, can accept all kinds of credit cards, supermarkets in the Netherlands are very proud, and most of them do not accept credit cards except those near tourist hotspots. Generally, it is safest to go to the supermarket with PIN card and cash, and some places don't even accept cash! In addition, when queuing, you should pay attention to whether you need a PIN card!

There are too few varieties of fresh vegetables.

If, like me, you think there are too few varieties of fresh vegetables and fruits here, you can look for them in the canned vegetable area, which may surprise you. Pickled cucumbers and millet peppers can be found, as well as canned pineapples and oranges in syrup that I liked when I was a child!

I want to buy the most basic first aid kit and standing medicine.

If you want to buy the most basic first-aid items and standing medicines (over-the-counter medicines), it is suggested to ask at the supermarket counter (often behind the counter) or go directly to the daily chemical store (Etos, Kruidvat, etc.). ). Generally speaking, Albert Heijn will supply ibuprofen.

I don't like peeling potatoes.

Little friends who don't like peeling potatoes, Dutch supermarkets are very intimate! Chopped fresh potato pieces can be found in almost every supermarket, regardless of size!

5. receive a small gift

If you receive a small gift when you walk out of the store, especially a football card or something that teenagers like, there may be groups of children talking to you and asking for gifts! If you like to collect these gadgets by yourself, then remember that the supermarket will organize an exchange when the deadline of the activity is approaching, and you can exchange what you don't have with others when you collect duplicate things at the announcement time.

6. After work, the supermarkets are closed.

If you don't live in the center of a big city, you will probably find out after work or after class-all the supermarkets are closed! Even some local supermarkets are closed on weekends, only once a month on Sunday. In many places, it is difficult to find a supermarket that is still open at 6-8 o'clock after work! But don't worry too much. Generally speaking, supermarkets all over the country have a "shopping party" every week to delay the business hours until eight or nine o'clock in the evening!

7. What do you want to buy in the middle of the night

If you need to go shopping in the middle of the night, you can go to avondwinkel or the night shop. In the afternoon 1 1 or so, the owner will charge double the fee (milk, etc. These shops usually open in the afternoon and stay open until after midnight.

8. Free coffee and tea

The Dutch are still very polite to their guests. In many supermarkets, banks and other service halls, there will be all kinds of coffee and tea for guests. If you are "impolite", you may even take some sample tea bags and coffee with you. But it's best not to be greedy for such petty advantages!

9. There are too many kinds of dairy products! Don't buy milk in the wrong color.

If you buy milk, it is right to choose blue packaging (the lighter the blue, the lower the fat). The red package is karnemelk (very sour original cheese), the green one is yogurt, and the yellow one is vla (a special dessert in the Netherlands). Don't buy it wrong just because you don't know Dutch, or you may suddenly drink something you don't know if you want to drink good milk. ...

10. Plastic bags are charged. Remember to bring your environmental protection bag to buy.

It is said that in Alebrt Heijn, sometimes very fragile free bags are provided (I have never seen them) ... but I think even the paid bags are of poor quality. It is recommended that friends bring enough environmental protection bags or strong plastic bags that you need to use many times before buying!
